NFL 2008-09 Season

Pittsburgh Steelers
Home: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Indianapolis, Dallas, N.Y. Giants, San Diego
Away: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Philadelphia, Washington, New England

Now that's a tough schedule.:(

No kidding!

Don't know if it's been brought up anywhere else in the forum, but does anybody have any idea which game the Bills might be playing in Toronto? I'm thinking it may be sometime in December (since the CFL season would have ended by then and the Blue Jays will be in hibernation...)

Its time to look forward for next year...
Another undefeated regular season for us? Maybe.

Pretty cheese schedule next season.

Home games
Bills
Broncos
Cardinals
Chiefs
Dolphins
Jets
Rams
Steelers

Road games
Bills
Chargers
Colts
Dolphins
49ers
Jets
Raiders
Seahawks

I hope they lose a regular season game or two, perfection was a burden to bare in this media age.

I could see from the schedule the 49's may be the next Dolphins team next season!

Home: Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Washington
Away: Chicago, Green Bay, Minnesota, Atlanta, Carolina, Houston, Indianapolis, San Francisco

The Lions they may make it to the playoffs this year.
Easy schedule if you ask me..other than GB/Jax/Indy.

Any thoughts on the Free-Agency/ Off-season moves so far?

My Brownies have been awfully active since these recent signings...

QB- Derek Anderson (Locked up a Pro-Bowl QB for another 3 years, solidifies depth at the QB position and prolongs the inevitable decision on the franchise QB between Quinn or Anderson).
RB- Jamal Lewis (Should run strong for at least another year behind our strong Offensive Line).
DT- Corey Williams (Provides a strong pass rush and run stop needed on the D-Line.)
DT- Shaun Rogers (See above. Provides further help needed on the D-Line.)
WR- Donte Stallworth (Great compliment to Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. Yet another offensive weapon for Anderson.)

With all that said, we don't have a draft pick till the 4th round (1st for Quinn, 2 and 3rd for Rogers/Williams.) This is ok by me since the players we received are most likely better than the talent we would see in those rounds anyways. These trades instantly shore up the holes that we were focusing on. IMO, these moves make the Browns the team to beat in the AFC North.....

I see seven, possibly eight losses in that schedule. They might make the playoffs at 9-7, but not at 8-8. I'd say Minnesota has a better chance of making the playoffs in the NFL Norris division, along with GB.

GB x2
Jax
Minnesota (split)
Indy
NO
Tennesee
Washington

ROFLMAO! Stop it you're killing me! :D

IF, and it's a mighty BIG IF, you guys can get Shaun Rogers into good enough shape to play 4 quarters and 16 games, your defense will be completely transformed into a top ten unit, and you guys will reach the playoffs. When he wants to play, he changes everything on the field. One man wrecking crew, but only for half of a season. He was easily the most talented player the Lions had on D, but the guy was so out of shape and unmotivated here, and he had to go. The Lions went 6 - 2 with him at the top of his game in the first half of last season, 1 - 7 with him sucking oxygen the second half of the season. Maybe the change of scenery will motivate him. If it does, you will be in for a fun season. I do think you guys overpaid him in that new contract, though.

So I guess we're even then. You get a CB in Leigh Bodden who when plays is good, but the problem is that he's usually injured for half the season. ;)

In all seriousness, we've heard the wrap that Rogers takes plays off and is overweight. I have faith in Phil Savage that he is well aware of this risk and is confident that he and Romeo can motivate him. He will be after all, playing for the AFC North Favorites! Romeo has had great success in mentoring Braylon Edwards and KW2. I believe he will also have a positive impact on Rogers.

And as for him "taking half the year off", I tend to think the wrap on Rogers is a bit skewed. Weeks 1-9 (includes bye week), Rogers had 20 tackles. Weeks 10-17, he had 19 tackles. Seems pretty well balanced to me........

Last year we won 10 games and had an awful defense. We're talking, one of the worst in the league! In the last 12 months, we've secured our Offensive line, QB depth, RB, WR's and added 700 pounds to our D-Line. The Browns have scary potential next year. It is so nice to have such optimism for my team that has suffered for all too long. I can't wait for the '08/'09 season!

BTW, I keep hearing a rumor that Shaun Rogers is a such a physical freak that he can actually dunk a basketball on a 10' rim! Is this true?

Yes he can dunk. As for the stats, you sited, well there are lies, damn lies, and statistics. In this case they don't tell the whole story. I watched the Lions week in and week out for most of life. Trust in what I said. If you guys can motivate him, we couldn't, you guys got a hell of deal, if not , then you'll see on Sunday what I saw.
As for Bodden, I'm assuming that he sucks, if only for the reason that Millen acquired him. Millen's track record speaks for itself. I have no faith in anything this man does. For instance last season he traded Josh McCown(QB) and Mike Williams (WR) for a 4th rd. draft pick, that they ended up cutting in training camp. He traded Dre Bly for George Foster (RT) and Tatum Bell (RB) and both them weren't even dressed for the second half of the season. (And neither were technically injured!) Seeing a pattern here?

I feel for you Paul. Detroit is in a sad state of management, front office and ownership wise. I will assure you that Bodden, when healthy, is one of the best CB's in the league. (Ask Ocho Stinko. He said so himself many times in the past). Cleveland will really miss Bodden. He served us well in his tenure here. Day in and day out, he played his heart out and was a great guy in the community as well. You are truly getting a stand-up guy that you will learn to appreciate. He plays the game the right way. Unfortunately for us, we had to "rob Peter to pay Paul" in order to shore up out horrid D-Line.

I hope it works out both ways, that's what good trades are supposed to do. Right now, the management in Cleveland has been doing everything right, you guys have been in the league for a few years and are light years ahead of Detroit in your chances of being in the playoffs. Is Brady Quinn available? Only God knows why we passed on a chance to trade down and get him.

Apparently Savage has said that he is going into this season with both QB's. Plus it is economically worth it to us in affording both QB's. Brady Quinn's current contract is heavily weighted with on-the-field performances. So, as long as he's sitting on the bench, he doesn't hurt us financially whatsoever. I think he's getting less than 2 million a year right now on the bench.

Also, it is rather interesting how Derek Anderson's new 3 year deal is structured. After this year, he's eligible for a 5 million salary increase. My guess is Savage is simply delaying the franchise QB decision for another year. If Derek Anderson has another year as he had in '07, he will be our man. If not, we are pretty confident that Brady Quinn can be our future.....

Either way, both QB's can't co-exist after this year. One of them will be traded next year.

You better hope it's Anderson, because if he comes back with a less than stellar year, then his stock will drop severly and you will not get much for him.

as for Rogers, You'll be wondering why you see him coming off the field when the biggest plays are about to be made.

I think the Browns are definately going in the right direction ....

Picked to win the division next year ???? Really ... I don't see it.
