How is it that Jim Haslett and Herman Edwards, whose teams had 10 and 7 game losing streaks, did NOT get fired?
Still early.
Also, you have to look at the expectations at each place.

3. Speaking of the Lions, at least they can score touchdowns. Yesterday, the Browns set an NFL record by being the first team to not score a TD in 6 consecutive games! Watching this team try to run an offense led by Ken Dorsey or Bruce Gradkowski was shear torture. If the Lions were to play the Browns next week, Detroit would probably be favored. Thank God this '08 season is finished!
4. I respect the Steelers willingness to not lay down and play their reserves yesterday, but since they had nothing to gain or lose by the outcome of the game, did they make the right decision in playing Roethlisberger?
5. During the 2nd quarter, Willie Parker fired a football into the crowd after scoring a TD. Will he be fined $10,000? A NY Jets DE got fined for as much last week for doing the same with snow.
7. One of two exemplary stories of team turnaround has to go to the Miami Dolphins. The Fins improved on a 1-15 record by going 11-5 and winning the AFC East this year. It was only fitting that Chad Pennington got to clinch the division against his former team he was ousted by on the final week of the regular season.
9. While Tony Romo will still be associated with the stigma of "not being able to win the big game", he isn't alone in the blame to go around for the disappointing Cowboys season. At the beginning of the year, the 'Boys were atop the list of Super Bowl contenders. To not make the playoffs with this collection of talented individuals is completely unacceptable. Yet, right there is where the problem begins and ends. Until the "talented individuals" play as a team and not for themselves, they will continue to disappoint year in and year out.
Well they did it. Cemented their names in the record books for eternity.
The record setting performances:
0-16 I may not live long enough to see this record equaled or bettered.
4 - The number of 100 yd. performances by the Packers. 2 receiving, 2 rushing. This has never been done in the NFL till yesterday!
Seen at Lambeau -
A Geico "Caveman" wearing a Kitna jersey holding a sign that said - "0-16, so easy the Lions can do it!"
By the numbers -
132.2 - Aaron Rodgers' QB rating yesterday. And his receivers dropped at least 5 catchable throws.
110.9 - Opponents QB rating for the season. No QB in the league has a rating over 110 this season.
30 - The Lions total offense ranking in the NFL 268 yds. per game
32 - The Lions total defense ranking this season. 404 yds per game.
16.8 - Points per game for the offense. 27th in the league. we didn't score over 25 pts. in any single game.
32.3 - Points per game the defense gave up. 32nd in the NFL. If they gave up 17 more yesterday, they would have set an NFL season record.
It should be pretty clear from those numbers why they went 0-16.
2 - Number of penalties assessed the Lions for "Taunting" Are you kidding me? They're 0-15 and losing the game, and they have the audacity to taunt their opponent? Even if they were ahead by 40, they should have kept their mouths shut.
Highlights -
5 picks in the first 85 of the 2009 draft. Now we just need a GM and a scouting staff that knows sh*t from shinola.
Quote of the day -
Jeff Backus LT - "Everybody in this locker room that is here today can hold there heads high because they really handled it well with class, It sucks that we're 0-16, but the way the guys handled it, you can appreciate that. Everybody should be able to look in the mirror and be able to say to themselves they did everything they could to get a win and not let this happen."
OK Jeff. That and a dime won't get you a cup of coffee, but you hang on to that. He said this with a straight face, too.
Glad to see Joey back into the playoffs.
:up:up:up
You and Tom were kind of quite about your game. What's up with that?
HD basically said he gave up on Cleveland's season after the Texans game, when the Mighty Quinn got hurt.
who do you guys think will be next in the axing of the coaches on dark monday?
How about Mike Shannahan? What a collapse by the Broncos! And losses to the Raiders, Bills and Chiefs.
1. Congratulations to all the playoff bound teams. This year there will be 7 teams participating in the playoffs that didn't last year. The NFL and Parity have become monotonous.
2. '08: Detroit Lions- "Woe & 16"! My regards Lions fans.
3. Speaking of the Lions, at least they can score touchdowns. Yesterday, the Browns set an NFL record by being the first team to not score a TD in 6 consecutive games! 6. Did anyone see the challenging elements at The Ralph yesterday? With every kick going "wide right", it was yet another reminder to the unfortunate letdown during Super Bowl XXV. What did the Bills do to deserve this cruel torture?
8. The other great turnaround story goes to the Atlanta Falcons. In '07 this team was in shambles. They lost their franchise QB after being involved in an illegal dog fighting ring, their Head Coach quit in the middle of the season and their GM was fired. In '08, Atlanta hired a no-name HC and GM. They drafted Matt Ryan to be their QB and signed Michael Turner as their new running back. After going 4-12 in '07, the Falcons improved to 11-5 and a Wild Card birth this year. Very impressive considering the circumstances from just a year ago.

10. I am now reading reports of Mangini (Jets) and and Marinelli (Lions) being fired. Romeo Crennel is expected to be fired as well later on this afternoon. I think it's pretty clear now that Bill Belichick is the Football Czar in New England. All of his notable coordinators (Mangini, Crennel and Weis) haven't been able to sniff similar success when they tried to branch out on their own.
How about Mike Shannahan? What a collapse by the Broncos! And losses to the Raiders, Bills and Chiefs.
I really wish the Lions played the Chiefs this year. While everyone piles on the Lions and deservingly so, the Chiefs have been the worse team in the last 2 years. In '07, the Chiefs had 4 wins. In '08 they had 2. Hell, at least the Lions had 7 wins last year, more than the Chiefs had been able to compile in both seasons.
2. Is there a more cursed kicker than Ryan Lindell? Misses a long game-tying FG against the Browns, doinks two kicks against the 49ers, and has a few kicks blown by the wind yesterday against the Pats.
Yes. Scott Norwood.
