Hi,

I'm just want to make an installation of my FTA and I would like some feedback of you guys that know more than me.

I would like to make a HD FTA setup so I have heard about the something called "usals" and a motor to move the dish from one satellite to another. It sounds cool, but I would like to do a seup something similar to the Dish 1000.2 that it has 3 LNBs and receives signal from 110, 119 and 129 if I'm not mistaken.

1. Could I do something similar to that? If so, what do I need besides the dish(which I have to get one of 4ft or more because of my location) I mean types of LNBs, DiSEQ (or something like that), what receiver?

2. What are the best satellites to get signal form??

Thanks for your support!!!!

Answer depends on how many satellites you want to try for and how far apart they are. I can't really tell you on a 4' dish. do a google search for "toroidal satellite dish" and study results. A dish of that shape can get many satellites but might be cost-prohibitive. On a 1.2m dish, you may be able to place 3-4 lnbs , possibly more, but again depends on which sats you want to receive and how far apart they are in the satellite arc.
2. Best satellites? Totally depends on your taste in tv signals. Take a look at The List, top of page, study the various KU satellites and the channels listed. There's not much full-time HD channels avail that are free, most providers doing HD programming want to GET PAID for it, lol. There are PBS channels, also occasional news , sports and other programming but that type stuff is not advertised in advance.

Welcome!

Read everything you can before jumping in. Minimum is a DVB reciever with blindscan and a linear lnb. Fortec, Traxis are good brands. Check out out our sponsers sites.
