New uplink computer..

In my opinion, if you want this blazingly fast computer, you will be MUCH better off spending the shipping to return that celeron processor and get a Pentium 4 Dual Core 64 Bit. Regardless of speed, dual core, 64 bit technologies etc, celerons are simply inferior products to the P4 line. Celerons are known to have considerable trouble running highly intensive applications (games, video editing, data).

If bring back the original target - gather and process satellite system tables, all the gears, ie money, are overkill;
P3 1 GHz/ 512 MB/ 40 GB is optimum for run the TSReader program for 24/7/365.
And less electricity bill guarantied :D.

Take a closer look at that celeron my friend.. Its a celeron - D Dual core.. and is 64 bit compatable. :)

I wasn't going to say it! ;) But I assume he wants to watch a little FTA HD on it too.

Hey, if you guys are going to complain, then give Bob more money! :)

I was pleased for a while that all my computers were AMD- my Office computer is a dual Athlon MP 2200+, my laptop is a Athlon 2600+, and I just swapped the 1.1Ghz Celeron in my little home setup with a 1.8Ghz Duron. (It's just for internet and bookeeping).

But I was wasting too much time rendering video in my office, so I built a new system just for editing and rendering. I wanted to make it HDV ready, and was going to go with some sort of AMD64 CPU. But there were only 1 or 2 motherboards approved for my editing card (Matrox RTX100), and none of them had what I needed. So I went with a Pentium 4 3.2Ghz.

I will say that my little system got much more stable when I ditched the Celeron, but that could have been a MOBO problem too.

Oh yes, I saw the D :) , but my point is, even a Celeron D will pose performance issues compared to a Pentium 4 D.

Now I realize I'm new here and really don't have the right to complain, I just felt I should point out the power of the P4 :D

I wasn't complaining Bob, I was just making suggestions. I've never been too impressed with the Celeron processors but the new chips might perform better.

As long as you're happy with the computer, we're all happy for you.:)

I got the case in today and its badd assssssssss with 5 fans in the case alone :) The processer came in yeasterday and the mother board shipped today.. When I get the memory in january im going to start puting things together and benchmarking the pc for you all. It should run hd really smooth :) My wife just pmed me and said I got another box in today.. so We will see :)
