NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Time Warner will unveil a new high-definition digital videodisc next week that could end the battle between two next-generation digital video player technologies, the company said on Thursday.

Time Warner's (Charts) Warner Bros., a movie studio division of the world's largest media company, plans to present the new disc, Total HD, at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Yes I just got an invite to a party and to the press event for it.

So how much are these discs going to cost us? $50 a pop? People are already complaining about the price of combo discs.

I have yet to pay over $19 for a HD-DVD combo disc. The BD are the ones I keep seeing with a min price of $28 and up to $40

Wow you must be looking at the wrong places. My local Best Buy has the majority of the BD movies at $24 or less.
I don't know about that. Even Target has most of the BR movies at $30 each. My HD DVD experience has shown Target to be about $5 cheaper than Best Buy. Maybe that doesn't apply to BR, and I could be wrong.

Searching bestbuy.com for "blu-ray disc" in movies, there are 71 out of 160 at $25 or less (not a majority -- about half). Same search for "hd dvd" in movies, shows 98 of 137 at $25 or less (a majority).

Considering my statement said my local Best Buy not online, it was the majority of the movies. They had no where near 160 different movies at the local store.

Scott, let us know everything about this player when you find out especially the price and when it will be available.I'm sure you will.Have fun at CES and keep up the good work.
