Hello all. My dad just bought a new Sony KDF-E42A10 rear projection 3LCD TV. He wants me to come down to Denver and calibrate it with my Avia DVD but I had a couple of questions before I go dorking around with it.

1) Most RPTV's require a couple months "warm-up" prior to calibration, is this is same with the 3LCD sets?

2) Will this set burn-in from static images?

I told him to get a DLP but with his limited 43" space there were like 4 sets he could purchase with adequate fill. He said the set is not very bright and this is a concern for me as his house is made almost entirely of windows in his primary viewing area. As an alternative I think he may be happier with this set by Samsung (HL-R4667W), if anyone has either of these I would like feedback. Thanks all!

hi

The set needs at least 50 hours on the bulb prior to a calibration. Of course you can use AVIA immediately, but expect substantial changes within the 50 hour mark.

There is no risk of burn in on a LCD / DLP display.

Regards

Gregg
