No way I'm letting Google into my TV. If I decline, will the old voice system still work?
If you do choose to activate Google Assistant don't stick that remote under your pillow when you turn in for the night. Otherwise you may be sharing things with those Google employees beyond your love for some Housewifes show.
Absolutely is push to talk. The microphone is not active unless you actively push that one button on the 54 remote. These remotes are push-to-talk, are they not?

Mom's mad the voice feature has been disabled.
Question: If Google assistant is activated is it on the account (all receivers/voice remotes) or the individual receivers/voice remotes? In other words, does it work like Netflix does (I'm logged into my Netflix account on the Hopper and she's logged into her Netflix account on her Joey and never the twain shall meet)?
If that's the case then she can take it upon herself to activate Google on her Joey and let them know she watches Bravo and TLC 24/7
Push to talk. How quaint. Puts me in mind of this famous scene.
Try this, and I know it is sounding like a broken record but, unplug your Hopper for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Let the Hopper go through its reboot. See if that corrects the Joey issue. You said that you reset the Hopper to fix this daily. A red button reset doesn't necessarily fix the issue.u539...we're having issues. Almost every day now after night time reset when we turn on any of the 3 Joeys (ours are wired) we don't seem to get a decent signal from the Hopper and the channel is either black, stutters or is pixellated and unwatchable. And if you press the Options button on the Joey it'll say 16 of 16 tuners in use and they all say "acquiring signal." A reset of the Hopper solves all this until it resets itself in the middle of the night and it starts all over again. Diag screens say everything's linked and strong signal. This has never happened...ever...until now
While I might agree, it's not a hard thing to do...Sigh.
We shouldn't have to kiss our elbows to get it to work.
I shake chicken bones at it.Sigh.
