New Software Coming Tonight

Did they fix that silly 15 second channel switch display? As for Google, I worked for them for a bit. I stay as far from any of their products as possible. Which unfortunately is getting more and more difficult.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dish move the microphone from the remote to the Hopper in a future release, or to a stand alone module. That way they can catch all those who use another remote for their systems.

They're collecting voices now ?

Wonder what they plan to do with them.
All these voice systems "collect" them. The ability to parse and understand your requests lives in the cloud so the system has to "collect' your voice and send it to the computer in the sky AKA cloud for processing. The services keep the requests on file to analyze and hopefully improve the ability to recognize future requests.

<Tin Foil Hat On> The services also keep your voice on file to use in the future to replay one day to impersonate you to the bank. <Tin Foil Hat Off>

Maybe it's just me but I would much rather use the buttons on my remote than have to speak into it, I don't find the voice remote compelling at all.
But I'm old fashioned, still using my preferred 40.0 remote.

In my case Google would most likely not understand what I am saying in my slightly South Louisiana accent.

While useful for some things....

If you want the real Google Assistant, spend the $39 and but a real one, as there is so much it can do, that its Hopper version can not do.

I have been playing around with Google Assistant on my Hopper3 receivers. I integrated my Cub Scout and Iphone Calendars into Google Assistant. When I ask questions such as “Who won the Democratic Debate last night?” the Hopper brings up a set of YouTube videos dealing with the question. When you select one of the videos YouTube on the Hopper3 plays the video. I also like that it speaks to you besides showing the visual results. For example asking what is the weather, it displays a banner showing weather conditions and tells you the info. It also controls 15 lights throughout my house. I have Setup routines that automatically dim the lighting for ideal TV viewing.

Weird mine stop talking, only shows visual results now.

UPDATE: So weird, it talks on SD channels and not on HD channels. Maybe something to do with Dolby sound?

Must just be in limited release, does not let me manually update on neighbors H3, says it's already got latest version & the message doesn't show up. Works fine on my H3 & both wired & wireless Joey's.
