New prices/packages?

If we upgraded to TC + in the next few days do you think it would just go up a few dollars in March, or would changing something now bump us into the "new customer" pricing?

Change you programming before March and you should not be pushed into the new package.
Although after looking at the package they are talkingabout, when you add up all the things you add to get the channels and DVR and whatnot you currently have, I don't see that much difference.

Agreed, it looks like total increases of less than $5/month. At least it's making me review my packages to see whether I'm taking the most cost-effective route. I may be able to justify bumping-up to Premier ($99), the additional cost is much smaller than the ala-carte.

On another note, I don't see any mention of the XM channels in those packages. I'm wondering whether they will be discontinued next month???

Well we just have TC and the regular box, and a few of the channels that are being moved to TC+ are ones that we watch frequently; so that's why I was wondering if we moved up to TC+ now that it would only increase by $3 from it's current price in March ......

I believe that to be the way I read it ...

If i read this correct, on page 4 a poster mentioned something about the new packages and prices applies to new subs. Wonder if this will make D* drop their phrase once a sub always a sub. Example....say a former sub wanting to come back. Would they be able to sub to the TC,TC+,etc or the new packages?

I am thinking about switching from Dish to Direct because of the MLBEI situation but hate to give up my Dish HD channels for a promise of future enhancements on Direct's part. I have been with Dish for 10 years and really have had no issues with them until now. I was wondering what would be the lowest cost for me to have Direct as a 2nd sat just so I can have the EI package? I would only want Direct for this feature and only during baseball season. I will watch how Direct deals with the HD issue down the road as the year winds down and then decide whether to switch completely. I can deal with having 2 sat system for now and if the cost isn't to much absorb it over the next 6 m0nths or so. Thanks

The only one who can answer that question is DirecTV.Good Luck!:)

Have you thought about getting the Superstations with DISH?.That would increase your reception of baseball.Would not give up the HD you have until the HD channels you want are on DirecTV.Good Luck!:)

price

i just had directv installed today, they said they i had a 1 yr. price fixed, and starz
for 1 yr.included, so am i exempt from the price increase?

Actually, I thought I saw the poster (or read on another) that the NEW subs started with the new packages in the first week of Febuary and March 1st for existing subs, so the way I read it, everyone would get the price change (package wise)

I would think you would have to have the cheapest package in the new package ($ 59 and the cost of EI package as well)

Question: I am a current DIRECTV subscriber, already have an HD box and HD service.

I just ordered an HD DVR box, but it wont be installed until after Feb. 6. When I activate the new box, will this change my packages to the new/higher prices?

Can I call DIRECTV now and ask them to activate the box/DVR service ahead of time?

I bet that Directv would require anybody activating account regardless of whether they had one before or not would have to take the new packages. Why would that not be the case if someone would have to keep their current lower priced package in order to keep it when then new packages come out?

How can they legally increase the prices for those of us under their 2 year commitment?

When you sign a lease on something, the agreed to price cannot be changed during the lease, so what makes this any different? They say we're only leasing their equipment. They should not be able to change the prices during each person's commitment obligation until it is fulfilled.

I've thought the same thing. I'm sure that they are saying that they aren't changing the lease, that it is still $5 a month. Just a guess.

When you sign their contract you are not agreeing on the price of the package. You are jsut agreeing to keep your service activated for two years. Its very different then say your cell phone contract.

For those users that signed up with the specific "locked in" promos, their prices for the current subbed to packages will not change; thus the "locked in" price promotion. Any other regular sign up will change. Commitments are based on package level, not pricing scheme.

I just upgraded to TC Premier. No worry on packages anymore. ;)

I can't afford the Priemer package, and I am on the computer too much to be able to watch enough TV to make it worth my while.
Does the Priemer package include the Sports packages, if it did it might be worth it.
Does the Priemer include the 590's ?

Not sure what you mean by sports packages, but the Premier Package includes most of the regular channels, all 4 movie networks packages and the RSN sports package.
