New commissioner Rob Manfred open to defensive-shift ban

He's proposing ending those exotic shifts that teams use against pull hitters. As someone said in the comments section,"if it aint broke, don't fix it." If you are concerned about long games, watch how long Cricket is. For a sport that I have no comprehension WHAT is going on,it can take well over 5 hours to watch,& that's 20-Twenty Cricket, which supposed to be faster than the normal 3 day game test matches. What's next, allow one-two innings over the regulation 9 innings & then have a home run derby to determine the winner like they do in Soccer World Cup matches or regular season NHL Hockey games with penalty kicks/shots? I guess that after that, because we know how long a game can go if one team has a scoring explosion in an inning, have a mercy rule to end the game within 9 innings based on how many runs a team scores against another team. How about the caveat that if a team scores x number of runs, over the mercy rule limit, they immediately have to end the inning for that team & allow the other team to bat to either catch up to the first team,or score within a threshold of runs to keep the game from being called because of the mercy rule. We'll call these new rules "the 3-minute attention span rules" or the "microwave" rules.
