I just got my HR-20's installed today. A couple of quick questions.

1. I noticed that my pbs channel is not in the guide in the OTA section. All other channels are but not that one. Any way to manually put it in there?

2. How long does it take for the On-Demand channels to start populating. It seems like I have been waiting for three or fours hours and not one has populated yet?

Thanks

No way to add OTA channels, other than the secondary locals option if it is in an neighboring DMA.

On Demand can take upwards of 24 hours after your network cable is connected, use the menu option to go to "connect now" on the network setup screen, that will get it started.

So I am just out of that PBS station? That is odd considering that is the closest station to me. About 20 miles away. The others are around 60 miles away.

Adjust you antenna slightly and re scan.
If you have the ability to use a signal meter for the OTA channels,(some TV's have this), I would fine tune to the PBS and make sure you are still getting your other channels and then re run the scan.

Jimbo, if the PBS station isn't showing up in the guide then what you recommended won't help. Only the H20 receiver actually scans for ATSC stations, all the other ones use a database loaded into the receivers for the ATSC and if that is not correct (station missing) only DirecTV can fix the problem.

Yes, you are correct, it dawned on me about the lack of being able to scan after I posted, just haven't had time to re post.....
This is one thing that I really wish they would change, but you know it ain't gonna happen, seeing they are trying thier best to get rid of OTA all together.

There is an agreement in place for local carriage of HD PBS, but the agreement was from last year. No word when they'll acutally start carrying PBS's.
