New HD is up!

Yeah I would think folks could get a different dish setup to get these channels as well. Sounds like folks are on some old setups still.

You need to understand that existing subs were denied 1000.4 eastern arc antennas when upgrading to HD even if the sub had all mpeg4 capable receivers. Only new subs got a pure EA setup. This was E* policy and one that's coming back to bite old subs in the ass. I have a D500 pointed at 110/119 and one at 61.5. It wasn't my choice. My Florida house install was just over a year ago. Yet at my primary residence, E* put up a 1000.2 when I upgraded to HD. This is a problem created by E*, not the subs.

Dish CSRs will not have any "official" information on these channels until tomorrow.

Try again then.

In fact if you havent called yet the WAIT until tomorrow. :)

Well, it took 3 levels of support, but I finally have someone coming out tomorrow between 8 and noon to take me off 61.5 and put me on 129. I had to call a number, and I got the same info about being a top customer that someone mentioned in the uplink thread. After the lady on the line got the info about the new HD, it only took a couple of minutes to get me set to upgrade at no cost.

And now, I shall go back to my non dish bashing ways. :D

That's what it appears to be. Dish is even confirming that 61.5 won't have the new HD for a while.
However, if your locals are on 61.5, you can get the new HD by upgrading to an EA 1000.4 Dish. 129 is out of the question, because you would lose locals.

So the soulution is a new dish. I think that is what Scott is hinting about?

And in my case (great plains area), it was because the locals weren't available on 129, because they weren't supporting our area with that satellite yet. So, we got the same 110/119 and 61.5 setup.

Revised moment of truth: Absolute edition of should I stay or should I go (to AT200)

With Absolute (but not on Silver): Bio, Hallmark Movie, National Geo, Planet Green, Science, Tennis, Versus

With Silver (but not on Absolute): BBC-A, BET, Big Ten, E!, Fox News, FX, MTV, MSNBC, Nick, Speed, Tru, VH1

With a monthly bill increase of $28/month more, I'd be able to trade in 5 HD channels I don't watch (2 I watch occasionally) for 7 HD channels I'd watch and 5 meh HD channels I probably wouldn't, a ton of sirus/xm channels, and several SD channels.... think I am (just about) convinced.

I know everyone's different, but it'll be a cold day in haties before I give up my absolute.

Right now i have 61.5 and 110/119- if i switch to Eastern Arc do i lose any channels in the move.

If your local channels come from 110 or 119 then you'll lose them. All the core channels are duplicated in the Eastern Arc, not all the locals are there though.

They confirmed for me that our locals are on 129 before I signed off on getting the new setup. For those of you working on changing your setup to get the new HD, make sure you ask if your locals are on 129! They weren't checking that until I asked.

Yeah I understand that I'm not saying its the subs fault.Just saying folks should be able to get a different Dish setup and I would not see why Dish would not help with the setup. I don't see how they would turn anyone down who was wanting to upgrade their Dish. Yes you might have to pay a fee to get them switched out but they should be able to switch them out for you if that's a option in that area.

Yes, in which case you would be on Western Arc.

Except if your HD locals are on 61.5 and your SD locals are on 110, like our DMA, which requires 110/119/61.5 for new installs.

Now the best solution is a 1000.4 and a wing dish pointed at 110. ;)

Scott
Maybe you can help with info about what the options are for us in the NY area that cannot physically get 72.7 or 129 because they are to low in sky.

Question: I have a 110/119/61.5 setup as you did. If I have a 1000.2 put up in place of 110/119 then I get, of course, 110/119/129/61.5. But a lot of HD would be duplicated on 61.5/129: how does the setup know which sat to choose for a particular HD channel or would I just get duplicates in the guide and pick what I want, hide the rest?

Thanks for any experiences.

Ha! Yeah I was thinking of asking if there is ANY market left that requires 61.5/110/119, lol. Where is that, Wyoming? Any other DMA?

Actually if you are local are on 61.5, you can get the new HD by adding 129 and keeping 61.5.

This would be done by replacing your 110/119 dish with a 110/119/129 dish.

Some people in the other thread have already gotten work orders for that.

Alternately, they can replace all your dishes with a 1000.4 dish for Eastern Arc.
