Any news on new HD releasing before team summit?

I am waiting for speed and FX in HD.

KAB, I am SURE that it will be before summer if they already have channel numbers assigned. Dish usually just keeps the TMP channels where they are at unless they specifically plan to have content within a few weeks. I am not a betting man, but the 3 channels in the recent uplink report I believe will come on before the end of May. I have no doubt those will be the only ones though. Any more than those 3, and that would be a MAJOR surprise.

It would be great if they do light new HD around the time of Team Summit, but I thought that FX and Speed wouldn't be 'til the summer when the existing contract is up. However, there are plenty of other triplets of HD channels that it COULD be:

Comcast - G4HD, Style HD, E!
Rainbow (yeah right...) - AMC, IFC, We
Cinemax - MoMax HD, OuterMax HD, @Max HD
Showtime - Showtime West HD, Extreme HD, TMC Xtra HD
Misc - ESPNU HD, Outdoor 2 HD, Fashion HD

As far as the showtime thing goes, the three free months of HBO and Starz turns into three free months of HBO and Showtime in about a week.

I wonder if I'll be eligible for that once my current free three months of HBO and Starz is up. If so, I might have to buy another external hard drive.

Thus far it seems like 3 months of a movie suite provides me with an opportunity to capture 70-80% of the movies the channel shows during the year. Just an estimate, but even if it's only 50% of the movie programming, not bad for free.

Do you think they will open the showtine up to exisiting as well. If they did with the other current promos you could build all premimums for free for a few months??

Absolutely correct.

As I recall Charlie said that the FX/Speed-HD contract doesn't come up for negotiation until the Summer (implying that there would be no additions of these channels until at least then). While some of us may disagree with his programming/business practices he has been pretty spot-on with his statements (the Viacom hiccup aside). The main problems come when people make up their own stories about what is coming and when, float rumours, wishes, hopes and dreams.

I'd love to see the Comcast channels but still adhere to the belief that, when given the chance, Charlie will throw up premium HDs.

Maybe it's FX/Speed and 373 is Fashion, and Dish could say at the Summit that they actually fulfilled one of their HD promises.
