Let's wait till later this AM to see what Bruton has to say before everyone in the NE jumps off the proverbial cliff.
I happen to think the flat one mile tracks put on some of the best racing around. Now I am a bit biased, I live within 2 miles of the Milwaukee Mile and the Busch (Nationwide), Craftsman Trucks and yes, the IRL put on great shows on our flat track. We'll never see a cup date here but, that's OK.
I've been a cup fan since the 60's. I've seen all the greats race on our track. Kulwicki, Allison(s), Petty(s), Earnhardt(s), Baker, Richmond, Trickle, Marcis, Foyt, Andretti, Mears.
Many bemoan the fact that NASCAR is moving away from it's "roots" My thought on that is, Did NASCAR really want to remain a "regional" series?
If you look back at the last race at North Wilkesboro, That track needed some serious work, They still had railroad ties and a steel guardrail in the turns, and attendance was terrible, The Rock rarely sold out and they didn't have 160,000 seats to fill.
More and more areas want a cup date, I was extremely disappointed when Chicagoland was built and given a Cup date. (What about Milwaukee???) NASCAR still wants a track in the Pacific NW, Where's that date going to come from?
I for one am glad to see NASCAR going to more areas of the country and into Canada and Mexico. Both of those races pack em in. However I do not want them going to Monaco or Belize or something like that.
I know I'm rambling a bit, but NASCAR is evolving and changing because it has to, not everyone is happy about it. Change is hard. Lot's more going on than just the sale of Loudon.
