New Guide UI now rolling out (plus HDR support!)

I really don't like 1088. I don't think I want to force a beta update, however, I am tempted. One of the most annoying things about the new UI is that the alphabetical sort in the Play List doesn't stick! Is there something I can do to fix that, or am I going to have to hope that DTV "fixes" this?
For me, this is the most annoying thing about the new UI. There are others, but I'll resist the urge to complain.

Since the latest firmware national release rolling out as ver. 1103 is going to eventually reach your box anyhow.

You may as well give it a try now to see if it fixes the issue, through a force d/l during the window between 4 AM to 7 AM EST M-F.

And this is way threads like this go on and on and on. Someone hates it, someone loves it.

Bugs are one thing and should certainly be reported but there is absolutely no way to create the perfect guide.
If they changed the color to a shade of whats being used, you could still see it and it wouldn't be as obnoxious.

+1 ...

Yes, if DIRECTV insist on keeping a stupid bar like that, then at least make it a lot more transparent so it won't block out the bottom line crawls of any news and sports score tickers when it appears during FF and REW.

3 to 7 ET and latest as of last weeks dailies was 1104.

Next week could be something newer... Right now we have no CE for the HR and 1088 has issues.

Before you wish for 1037, go back and look to see what we were discussing that needed changing on THAT software version.
Personal opinion here I guess for me on which I liked best, we all know too many folks hated the new guide from release and DTV just fixed the loudest thing in the room.

I'm not saying anything is right or wrong, I'm just pointing out that we have had something not liked on all versions, so far.

I just need to get off of software 1088. Since 1088 on demand doesn’t work. I can cause the whole system to freeze up on demand. Just playback on demand from a C61. It will freeze halfway on adjusting video or whatever it says under the pulsing AT&T logo. It will stay like that forever. Turn it off and on again and it’s just a flashing directv connecting screen. Wait about a half hour and the HR44-700 will reboot itself.

1088 is very very bad. 1037 was where it’s at. I don’t like how 1104 looks, but I’ll take it if it’s stable.

i have 1104 also. on my 54-700 guide scrolling seems to be a bit slower, but not horrible. other than that everything is working as expected. ….so far.

1104 is doing what the previous version(1088) did...that is it does not show all recordings in the playlist. I have an hr24 that will show all recordings. When I do the "test" of the hr44, it restores all recordings to the list...pretty strange behavior....no rhyme or reason to the recordings that are not in the playlist...old, new, series, movies, etc.....
I'll also add I don't like the blue line in the guide screen of 1104.....

Yep, ... but that's always been the vexing nature of software bugs I guess ...

Strange and stupid behaviors, with any discovered workarounds that have no apparent relation to the problem ...

Anyone not like the large font it makes the guide run slow. I wonder why when they redesigned the guide they just didn't use the font from the old guide? I liked the look of the guide when they had the first redesign with the logos in guide. Not sure why they couldn't have made the guide scroll fast with the logos in the guide.

cant stand the new guide. (1104) its huge, has a blue line and its very slow scrolling. I rather liked the guide in 1037 and even the speed of the guide in 1088. I woke up this morning to another malfunctioning hr54-700. for whatever reason the menu graphics & info screens are distorted with tiny white lines all through them. on demand stopped working and my apps are gone. my recordings are in tact but everything else is just crazy. button presses usually freeze up for at least 20 seconds. unplugging and rbr does nothing. if replaced it will make my 4th 54 in a year. something is horribly wrong here. I had a 44 for years without issue. I think its the new software. what are the chances that many 54's are bad?
