New dp plus and dish 500--one input works

I am hooking up a new dp plus rec to a older dish 500 on roof. dish has 2 lines from the lnbs that go into a switch that reduces feed to single cable. That goes into configuration that original dish installer set up. A splitter, one to rec, one to 2nd room for remote tv.

When I do scan for sats, only one input is being recognized. It reads both 119 and 110. Reading instructions say that both lines from dish have both 119-110 running so they should feed both inputs.

Any suggestions?

sounds like a legacy 21 switch...which will not work for your receiver. if its a bigger grey switch then it is a dp sw21 in which case you can remove it and run both lines to your receiver from there. otherwise...
what you need my friend, is a new lnb. search ebay for dpp twin lnbf. install it and remove the 21 switch, and run one line from dish to your receiver with a dpp seperator, or...two lines to your receiver without one. there are other ways, like a dp sw 34, but i am guessing the lnbs on your dish are legacy. best just to go with the dpp twin.

Ok I think I got it....

If I get a new dpp twin lnbf I can install it, take one of the lines directly to the first seperator, and the rest should be fine...

or

I can remove the old legacy 21 (big grey that has 2 lnb in and 1 out to rec), and take both of those lines ...
1 to input 1
and
1 to input 2

then a new line from back of rec to 2nd tv

is there a way to use the separator setup for 2nd tv, like

hook one of the lines to the separator that goes to 1nput 2 and second tv, and the other line directly to input 1?

if its a bigger switch, not small like a splitter, it is dp. which should mean that the lnbs are dp as well. but you would still need a switch to combine the sat signals. the dpp twin has a built in switch, as does the dp twin. the dpp twin would allow you to run one line to your receiver as long as you used a seperator at the back of the receiver, otherwise withouth seperator you would need two lines, one to input one and another to input 2. with a dp twin, you could not use a seperator and would need two lines. with either of these scenarios you would remove the sw21 and the two lnbs you currently have.
there are other solutions as well, like using a 34 switch.

2. change lnbs, to single (or double) grab one of the lines to first splitter hook-up as before with the rest set up for 2 tv off one rec. system

With a DP Twin I would do example2. With a DPP Twin and a separator I would do example7. The advantage to using a DPP lnbf is you can easily upgrade to a 2nd solo or duo receiver and/or a 3rd sat. location.

Lowe's has good diplexers for about $10 ea.

it wont work with your existing lnb's
i would go for the cheaper of your options
dp twin=cheaper but you'll need more cable
dpp twin cost more, less cable needed.
or...call dish!

I think I will go with your example pdf 2, it will be easy enough to run one more line and remove the legacy switch than to order a new dpp lnb.

replace old lnb with new dpp twin lnb run 1 wire to your new reciver with 1 seperator then from seperator use 2 short wires about 6-12 inches long done you will even have 1 extra line for another reciver open on lnb

i agree...and remember it wont work if you just run lines from your dual lnbs with no switch.

with the dpp twin u will not need a switch take switch out.. and yes if u look at switch is should saw dp or dpp or nothiong also look at the dish its self it should say by lnb if its dp or dpp

sounds like u have a sw21 switch u cant use it with dpp take it off
