New DISHANYWHERE Player Discussion

I keep trying and continue to get the 2009 message on Chrome and Safari. iPad app works on the same network, just not my Mac or Windows PC. SJ

OK, Upgraded to Hopper, mainly for dishanywhere as I was happy with the 722 otherwise. Have all kinds of odd behavior with dishanwhere on my laptop. I am using Chrome browser. At first it would not show correct guide and playing recorded contact took a couple of try's as it would say receiver not found even though it showed the content. After a couple of reboots of both the receiver and computer these things seem to be alright now. New strange things: Dishanywhere shows recordings that were deleted and I even emptied the trash to make sure, yet they are still showing up and will play??? The other thing is the PTAT folder shows message that PTAT is not set up on the receiver even though it is and has recordings in it.

Have tried that numerous times as well.

When you are logging out and logging back in, are you clearing cache and cookies from the browser before logging back in? Are you seeing the deleted recordings and the PTAT not active when viewing it through the DISH Anywhere mobile app as well? -Jasmine D.

Dish Anywhere on the PC is the 'new' version and never works right for me. I still can't get audio and video from my guide or DVR to play, just an error 2009 or 2025. The DVR list is never right, the guide is often missing channels and on and on. I've pretty much given up on it waiting for them to either go back to the old format that worked or fix the many, many problems with this one.

I'm just hoping that they don't replace the Android apps that I use and work very well with this 'new version', at least not until it all works, if that ever happens. :)

Yes I have cleared the cache and cookies and logged back in and got the same results. What I find strange is the deleted shows will still stream. Tried the app on the android and after a few initial hiccups it appears to work good without this odd behavior.

That was a waste of time. Ultimately told they can not help with dishanywhere things through chat, have to call the number. Will have to wait and see when I feel like spending more time fooling with this. Have already killed too much time the last few days on dish stuff.

To eliminate the thought that is was something cached on my computer I just went to dishanywhere on the wife's laptop that has never been to the site before. Same issues shows deleted programs that are no longer on Hopper and PTAT folder not working.

There's nothing wrong with your receiver or computer(s). It's the terrible 'new' Dish Anywhere web site.

I understand their site not working properly. What I can't get is how shows deleted yesterday and no longer on the Hopper still appear, where is it getting that information?

Who knows where the info is coming from. I have a folder of Chicago Med shows showing on my PC Dish Anywhere that aren't and never have been on my DVR at all, and that's just one example. :eeek

That one's easy. The website is not updating itself with new information, such as the show being deleted yesterday.

It should not even be storing information like that. It should be getting the info from the Hopper. That would seem like a lot to store the info from every user, but then again I know nothing about how they coded this stuff.

When Scott first told us about the new Dish Anywhere players for PCs, I was happy. I thought we would be getting a newer modern player that would work with any browser, just like their old Dish Anywhere player used to. I never expected the new player to be worse than the old one, be missing features that the old player had, and only support Chrome browsers!

Now, I really wish I still could use their old player! It wasn't perfect, but at least it worked (most of the time)!

IIRC, DishAnywhere (old version) used Adobe Flash which Adobe abandoned development of four years ago. So, Dish and many other video providers have to change the entire way their streaming works or let us use a streaming player that is vulnerable to hacking, etc.

On my PC, I have to log out and back in to get it to go to a channel in the guide. The new DVR menu is horrible. I don't need recommendations in MY DVR Menu - just MY recordings - which I can't even tell if they're actually recordings or streaming suggestions
