New Dish Setup

I am currently a Comcast customer considering switching to E*. I was never a fan of Comcast's STB and it seems like it takes them a long time to add new HD channels (However, not as long as D*). How is Dish's VOD? That was the main reason I stuck with Comcast as long as I did. I live in Michigan, just north of Detroit, and I would get an HD package with DVR. I just want to know if I can get away with only having one Dish mounted on my house? Also, does anyone know what the new promotions will be after this month?

I will try to answer some of your questions. It is possible to have HD with only one Dish (We live on the west side of the state and only have one dish (I believe it is a 1000.2) and it seems to work fine. We also have a 722 receiver and love it.

Do you have to pay extra for the 1000.2 dish or can you just request it when you make the appointment?
The installer will have a variety of dishes in the truck. The only thing that would prevent you from just one dish would be LOS problem lower to the horizon (129). I would have had a 1000.2 or whatever had it not been for a big pine tree that was just blocking 129. So, had to get a second dish for 61.5. You will not have to pay extra for equipment necessary to receive HD.

I currently have two dishes pointed at 61.5, 119, and 110... I set these up during a move... but my locals are on 129... Not sure if los is a factor, because I'm not sure which way to aim... Anyone know where I can find this info and what would be the easiest way for me to try reaiming on of my dishes?
thanks!

129 is ten degrees west of 119 and a few degrees lower. Just look at your dish for 119 and 110. Subtract 5 degrees for elevation and start scanning west. That should get you close.

There is a website I just don't know what it is. This will get you close if you don't have a compass.

So instead of my 61.5, I just redirect the dish pretty close to where the other one is pointed and go from there? It would be fine to use 129 instead of 61.5 for hd right?? this would be the best way for me to get my locals right?

I read up a bit.. but couldnt see much difference between 61.5 and 129 other than locals... will I need to have a dish at 61.5 for all the hd channels?? or are they set up on both?
I currently have the 250 package with Starz and HBO and HD... Locals are supposed to be on 129.
Also planning on getting NHL Center Ice and Superstation package

I have a Dish 500 pointed at 110.. I read that these should pick up 119 as well.. Or is that only Superdish and I am misreading??? It would be great if I didnt have to move the 61.5, and just have the 110 also receive 119

oh and sorry Charlesrshell ... Total newbie here. I've been to each site though... Just don't know if it is possible to receive 110 and 119 on my current dish.. If it is possible, what is it missing so that I can lock on the the sat? or should I get a new lnb for that location?

A Dish 500 with TWO Dual Lnbs or a Twin lnb or a Quad Lnb will pick up both 110 and 119

I actually found that discussion after searching and looked through it.. Mine is only for one 622 receiver... but man would I love to trade houses and have that many tvs running!! I got Sirius as well, can't live with the stations that are on dish
