New Dish Network HD Essential Pack Info

I am going to stay were im at with the DVR Advantage 250 + HD and get all the HD im paying for know for $20

Same here.

I am also one of those Big 10 fans and am dreading to find out how this is going to work come the end of March. It has been so nice this year to see every I.U. b-ball game.

The $5 downgrade charge is obviously not a problem to me, but I'm just curious:

If I downgrade my HD to the Essentials package, but upgrade from the AT200 to the AT250, leaving my bill the same amount as before, will there be a downgrade charge? There wasn't when I switched premium channels last year....

This is exactly what I'm considering. Definately alot more bang for the buck for that extra $10.

I have an 18 mo. lease with the DVR advantage pkg., the top 250, & Cinemax-(.02 cents/ 2 yrs.), and the 6 mo. free HD chs. When I called yesterday to order C-Max for 2 yrs. I asked the rep about the $10 HD pkg. She said all I had to do was call them on the day my 6 mo. free HD promo ends & d-grade to the $10 Essentials pkg. She also told me I would get all the HD chs. in my 250 pkg. as is std.

I hardly watch most of the HD chs. anyway, but I wanted Nat-Geo., History ch., the Science ch., & Discovery in HD. She said no problem and no charge for d-grading coming off of the HD promo.

I'm in the same boat as alot of you on here...currently have the AT200 w/ the $20 DishHD Pack. Can someone please list the channels that make up Voom so we'll all be clear on what we may lose when Voom is mentioned? Just to confirm, we'll also continue to get the HD locals (if they're available) w/ the essentials pack right? Thanks.

wow - if I remember correctly that is the very first original HD pack from Dish, doesn't it only have a very few channels. I think that is the first one I had.

So if I'm currently under the DVR advantage plan, will I still be able to downgrade to the $10essential HD package without mesing up my current DVR advantage plan?

Yeah I have the same question. I have AT250, HD, HBO and Cinemax, on DVR Advantage. ... So if I call and ask to do the HD Essentials for $10 a month rather than the $20 I'm paying now (I don't watch ANY of the "extra" channels you get in the Ultimate pack), will it screw up DVR Advantage?

I might consider downgrading to the HD Essentials and then upgrading my bedroom receiver from the current 508 to a 612.

I can't answer for certain, so don't hold me to it, but I believe that HD is completely separate from the DVR advantage. On my bill it has the AT200 DVR advantage for $49.99 and then lists DishHD as a separate $20 charge. I don't think downgrading the HD will change DVR advantage.

I am doing this right now - it would appear that you can indeed downgrade the HD and DVR advantage stays the same ...

Mine will now look like

DVR Advantage = 49.99
top 250 upgrade($10) + HD essentials($10) = $20
total bill = 69.99

+ Setanta sports = 14.99

Total = 84.98

this is with one 622 and no DHPP

I also did this and was told it will be $69.99 plus tax.

Yes you can downgrade to the $10 HD pack with DVR Atvantage and nothing will happen. DVR Atvantage Has nothing to do with HD! DVR Atvantage is a package that combinds your Americas top package with your local channels and DVR service in One Package..This also allows you to add HBO,Showtime,Cinemax,Starz,Playboy, and (Americas top 250 only if upgrading from the top 200 pack) For $10 each.

As far as NY RSN's are concerned, D* and E* subscribers will probably never get MSG or FSN New York in HD. Cablevision owns those two networks, and all of their advertisments down here in NYC tout the fact that they are the only place to get all 9 NY sports teams in HD. It's the only positive thing they have going for them.
YES network...well, is a whole other debacle. They demand to be included on the AT100 package while every other RSN in the country in on AT100 plus ($5 more for the RSN's). The guys at Dish say if YES ever agrees to this, they'll flip a switch and give us YES in SD and FULL TIME HD!! Don't expect that to happen anytime soon.

Just switched to the HD essentials pack. My service is bundled with Embarq, and the support specialist said there wasn't even a $5 fee when I asked if there was a charge to do so.

Must be still early in the morning where they are, she just said "bye" and hung up when I thanked her. :D

So long, Voom!

Hey does anyone else get the HD essential pack ,But still getting VOOM. I am !! I just looked at my bill and Recent activity, and it says HD Essential, and $10.67 charge. But I just upgraded from the Enabling fee. So why I'm I still getting Voom? I didn't think it came with this $10 Pack?

since we all pay a month in advance ,maybe you were fully paid up and it will turn off soon??

hI,
Can anyone answer question? Currently i have the nba league pass with the $20.00 ultimate hd pack. If i downgrade to the $10.00 essential hd pack, will I still get the nba channels in hd including nbatv?

I didn't see anything in this thread with regard to locals in HD. I have the AT200 with locals and the old HD Pak. If I order HD Essentials with the necessary receiver and dish upgrade, will I get my locals in HD?

Since SciFi HD, CNN HD, and Fox News HD are imminent, I think I'll wait to see if any of them end up in the HD Essentials package.
