New Dish Network HD Essential Pack Info

You don't have to do anything, just stay with your current HD package and you won't lose anything. Now if you want to save $10.00 then that's a different story.

"Please note that customers who currently subscribe to DishHD will automatically be kept at the $20.00/mo"

I would like to know if we still get NHL HD if we have Center Ice. There is a center ice version of the channel.

Wait, I thought i would lose Universal HD, HDNet Movies, NHL HD, NBA TV HD, and Voom???
If you go down to the $10/month Essentials package you will. If you stay at the current $20/month you have now, you won't lose anything.

Please note that customers who currently subscribe to DishHD will automatically be kept at the $20.00/mo. HD package level (dishHD Ultimate), however, these customers may change to another HD package – keep in mind that a $5.00 customer downgrade fee may apply.

So I am not sure of the answer by reading this. If we downgrade to the HD essentials pack do we still get our HD premium channels still or do we have to stay with the $20 HD pack for that?

So we have to pay a $5 charge if we choose to downgrade to a new lower-cost package, even if we're AUTOMATICALLY rolled into the Ultimate package! It's not my fault I'm being rolled into the Ultimate package. It's their decision to do that, not mine.

I've always thought the downgrade charge was a load of crap. Charge us more so we can get less.

I'm a little confused on the premium HD channels. From what I am reading, I have to go with the Ultimate in order to get them? Is this true? If so, goodbye Showtime and HBO. I'm not paying MORE to watch 2 HD channels when I am already paying out the nose for the premiums already.

The $5 downgrade charge is obviously not a problem to me, but I'm just curious:

If I downgrade my HD to the Essentials package, but upgrade from the AT200 to the AT250, leaving my bill the same amount as before, will there be a downgrade charge? There wasn't when I switched premium channels last year....

No, you'll still get your HD movie premiums if you continue to subscribe to any movie premiums. You dont need HD Ultimate to continue to get the HD movie premiums.

excellent - drop to essentials .. get rid of dhpp and send back one of my receivers and I'm already $22 per month better off .... :)

that'll pay for netflix ....

/me happy.

:)

The downgrade charge is a load of crap, but the Ultimate package is exactly what you're getting now, so I don't think you have a point.

I don't see Animal Planet on that list.

"dishHD Essential with AT200 (21 national HD channels, as of February 1, 2008, plus any applicable HD regional sports networks) – Includes all national HD channels that are included within dishHD Essential and AT100 Plus with the addition of Animal Planet."

It's on the AT200 package and up.

Isn't the downgrade charge a one-time $5 charge? If they want $5 who cares? Stupid fee but just $5?

Oops! I read that thing several times and still missed it.

So an AT250 customer would only lose Voom + HDNet Movies, UNIHD, NHLHD and NBAHD.

Essentials Pack a way for a new 24 month committment?

I was just wandering and no one has addressed this yet; since E* is moving to a new 24 month committment on everything you do, is it feasable to think that if you downgrade to the essenials pack that they would make you committ for an entire 2 years?
