New DirecTV HD DVR Box recording random shows - cant get it to stop

Here is why I asked. Its possible the wiring they have down in the phone closet is all jacked up

Depending on the size of your apartment complex they have some SWM8 switches down there. Each one can have 8 channels (tuners) running off of it
So your 3 (HD DVR + SD receiver) and your neighbors Genie (5) gives you 8 tuners which would be why its screwing up and allowing each of you to do what is happening. If I remember right the MRV (multi room viewing) works across the switch...The bandstop filter will fix it.

I know here we have 93 units so each SWM8 has 2 cables coming out of it for 2 apartments (there are 48 SWM8's down in the garage). I've seen mine and the 2nd cable isnt hooked up to anything and has a tag that says "GENIE" so they know there is 5 tuners being used out of that 8 tuner switch.

The shows are not in the series manager, that's what I'm trying to say. There is no way to stop recording them.
They are not in your series manager because your box is not recording them! Another DVR in your complex is recording them and you are seeing them in the playlist.
Go to one of these programs in the playlist. You will see a DVR name in front of the program name, that DVR is the one in the other apartment!
 
Well crap its still recording random shows even though I changed the whole home setting.

Did you set it on block for external access or recordings? Under Whole Home > External Device > External Access/Recordings.

Also, if you still can't get ahold if anyone you can ask your property managers what day the guy comes and track them down that way. In my experience, these middleman companies are not very easy to deal with. You may have to track down the tech. At our building the tech comes on certain days.

We have 18 units and only a few use DirecTV, most others use comcast. Me and my neighbor that are getting mixed up are both calling first thing in the morning to get this fixed. For now we both agreed not to delete each others shows lol.

hopefully they get it resolved quickly. As noted above maybe talk to the property manager if they are on site
 
I got a hold of them. They will try to get out today if not Thursday for sure. Since I got a new HD box he may have forgot to put the band stop filter on since the standard box didnt require one. God they suck lol.
