I'm looking to get a new TV, and, out of necessity, it seems I'll be making the move to HD.

I've only got two TVs, and I'm looking to get a dual tuner HD DVR for the upstairs tv, and a single tuner SD DVR for the kids downstairs. Any ideas if Dish will allow this, and what the upfront HW costs might be?

I tried dishbuilder, etc, but I can't seem to get that exact configuration because they want the dual tuners to go to two TVs.

Thanks,

Mike

What you might want to do is call Dish a couple of times too. Sometimes a CSR will tell you price X and another will tell you price Y. Doing this might generate a few more questions to ask the CSR the next time until you finally understand the deal they are offering.

I did this when I upgraded to HD a year back. I got two different quotes. Which led to more questions until I finally understood why I got quote 1 one time and quote 2 the next. When I finally ordered I was able to understand why the final cost was what it was and feel confident about the price.

If you are only running two tv's (1 HD, 1 sd) you can get an HD dvr receiver as it can control two independent tv's.

True, but I want both tuners dedicated to the main tv so that I can record on one and watch on the other. Plus, running cables between both locations isn't really feasible.

I finally got dishbuilder to show me what I want (as far as I can tell from the pictures, anyway). It looks like a $50 upgrade charge will get me where I want to be. I had tried calling, but they wouldn't give me any information without providing all of my info, which I wasn't ready to do at that point.

Thanks for the assistance.

Mike
