Hey how about this..
have a menu setting where u can set the DVR to only download VOD movies at specific times in the day.. more specificly in the night time hours.. ? without u touching the remote.. automatically
Broadband customers will be happy because its when less people use internet for surfing websites at night.. great idea huh ?
this is only if this setting is not forced to all customers.. but given as an option though..

I would love to see real time looping radar pulled direct from the national weather service or weatherchannel web page with the option for users to add URLs to there own custom pictures on the web.
These DVRs are all web enabled and they already support photos from a PC so it should not be that hard.
Basically I want to pull up my local tv stations live radar.
Not the weather on the 8's thing that we have now.

I think stuff like that is the idea behind Widgets, something DirecTV is working on, but has no timeline yet.
I would very much appreciate it if Directv would let us view our programs recorded on our external drives on any DVR that supports external drives. This would especially be beneficial when we upgrade or a DVR needs to be swapped out for various reasons. I feel just because the DVR was changed out is no reason that we should lose our recordings on our own external drives.
Hey how about offering a guide filter both for the Directv.com site and for the DVR's
If i want to sort the OnDemand Movie listings.. for example i just want to see the FREE ones..

I'd like to see a feature where you can save only a portion of a show. For instance.
You record an hour of Jay Leno but only want to keep the 5 minutes of your favorite act performing.

Being new to Directv I wish it was like my Moxi with Charter when it comes to Conflicts. By this I mean if I go into the To Do List and see that it wont record I all need to cancel one of the shows it conflicts with. Then the DVR automatically corrects and sees there is now an opening and it records it.
Also I want the prioritzer to be more than 50. My wife and I watch alot of Foodtv and I watch car shows. However many times the show isnt worth it and I will delete it. I

I have thaought of a couple new feature ideas...
1. when you have a group of showes.. i record MASH episodes have about 160 of them now and i don;t delete them when i watch them.. so what i would sugest is when you hit the play button on the grouping it should ask if you want to start on the first new episode or the first episode in the group.. it takes a while to scroll down to where we are in the list.
2. in the same senariowe should also be able to randomize play.. but not nearly as important...

i would really love a autotune feature for the dvr's. there are things i would just like the dvr to auto tune to instead of recording. in other words what we have for the receivers.
