New CE Feature Request Idea

this is true. the new 722S that has another name now has a guide in HD with all the logos and the UI is also in hd. Plus you can record 4 things at the same time. see that D? Do it!!!:D

How about this. with the swm tech you can hook two swm lines and have 4 tuners :)

How about crating a clip and emailing it to your friends... so that way if janet jacksons booobies pop out again I can highlight that 30 seconds of the video and email it or post it to youtube.

I would like the ability to customize the UI to fit the way I want it to look and put things I want to access in different ways, kind of like the way Windows or even a Pronto remote would be, but on screen.

Would love to see the color buttons be user programmable ie..

- 4 Favorite Channels
- 4 Favorite lists for the family

A User set-up "Mix" Channel

Obviously these ideas would be advanced and would probally require PC input via USB or network.

I'd like the all of the above option.

Press red and you access your favorite channels, by pressing one of the four colors after pressing red, it then tunes to one of the 4 programmable channels.

Press Blue and it toggles them over to the favorite lists selector, press one of the colors after pressing blue, and it enables that list.

Another could be for most recent channels viewed... hit yellow, a 4-option list appears on the screen indicating the last channels you viewed and pressing the corresponding color tunes to that channel. Would make surfing Sunday Ticket games pretty sweet outside of navigating the menus or remembering the channel numbers (kind of like what happens when you hit yellow now)

I agree with one of the first posts about performance though. I'm used to my HR21 now, but when I first got it, and leaving a TiVo, it took a lot to get used to pressing a button and waiting for things to happen. TiVo isn't perfect in this regard either, just a ton better in most situations.

I like the truncated recording idea... but to implement it best I think it'd have to come back down to performance. It could store all recordings as x minute segments, and you could choose to delete segments to accomplish the general idea that's been proposed. The problem with implementing it that way is the performance has to be there for the DVR to seamlessly string all these segments together when someone is viewing, rewinding, skipping/sliding, fast forwarding through a program.

oh another one..

Remember the old Toshiba DST 3000 model HD Receivers ?
It used to allow me when a phone call would come in with Caller ID info... u then could access the menu in the DirecTv Menu setup screen and select the option and then you would just pick up any phone handset and it would automatically dial the phone number back ...

Remember ?

NEW CE feature i would like to see

I had an h20-600 that got recalled and they sent me a H21-100 i think no ota tuner
so i got a am21 ota tuner for my hr22 and on the h20 i could do a manual search for channels and on the hr22 with am21 i cannot do a search now there are channels that are on that directv does not have any info about and at the end of this month a local station is planning on going from there current dt assignment to there post dtv transition channel and i dont want to wait for directv to get the info right
okey its a local ION channel

1. Being able to watch a recorded show on any rec. in the house.

2. Allowing the internal Hard Drives to work in combination with the Externals a lot of us have bought.

picture in picture for future ce?

What would it take for directv to offer picture in picture on maybe the next ce? How about offering whole home dvr like att and dishnetwork?

This too would be a good idea.
The DVR's already have 2 tuners , so this is something that may be able to be done.

Why not put this in with the rest of the "CE Feature Request " thread ?

I think a tutorial should be put together for media sharing and exactly what file types etc can work. PC requirements and etc. Heck I never even see Intel VIIV advertised anymore with new computers. From what Ive seen so far, Sean Mota and Iyla's how to threads on Voom are more extensive than anything that has been put together for the HR series D* DVR's by the mods. This how to thread should be stickied at the top and added to as things change.

If you don't mind going over to the other guys site in thread Networking Your HD DVR+ (HR20/HR21) - DBSTalk.Com they refer you to a number of different threads that go over networking and media share setups.

Vurbano, that's one of the things on the CE to-do list...

We just redid the intro thread, I think it came out really good.

In the mean time, anyone interested in Media Share, download a program TVsersity, it will server almost any video file to the HR2x just fine. The info at dbstalk on TVersity is good enough to get it running.

Long term, I want to do a guide with screen shots, etc. Time is the hold up.

Coming over from TiVo HD to the HR20 I haven't really missed much except for two things. 1. Transferring, which I think everyone is missing. The other is suggestions. I never would have thought I would actually miss TiVo Suggestions because coming home and having to delete 50 crap things sucks but I would like to see some type of suggestion system put in place.

Just my 2 cents.

I just want something that seems like it would be very simple. I want the Prioritizer to be larger, 50 just doesn't cut it! Every time a new television season starts I have to delete a bunch of stuff to make room. Then when the old series comes back on I end-up missing some. That has happened to me with this fall season and I am still bitter, but then, I'm always bitter.
