The missing features you refer to have nothing to do with the UI overhaul. The back-end functionality may not change at all.

But on a serious note, I predict that the new carbon UI for the Hopper/Joey/Super Joey will be released sometime between now to June 2016 unless Dish give up and cancels the new UI project.
