New Add-On Packages

But you are not a "pay-as-you-go" low-credit customer, right?

There does seem to be a confusion between the terms "Flex 24" customer who can have any standard AT package, and a "Flex Pack" that is a separate programming package like Smart Pack.
No I am not a prepaid customer and I can't see other add on packs to add online. I had to call customer service to switch to it and get the information. Online customer chat knew of the packages but could not add them.

If CNN is part of the flex pack then that would explain why it isnt in the news pack add in.

I'm on the welcome pack. No mention of add on packs on the site. The only thing new I see on my summary screen is a 3 cent FCC regulatory fee.

Now that you have this new Flex package, are you able to see the prices of all the other add-on packs from your online account?
I checked this evening and I can see the Add-On packages now on my online Dish account. I attached a screenshot.

Based off of the pictures of the add-on packs that Link posted earlier, it appears that there is no way to get your RSN if you go with the Flex Package.

Overall I am really intrigued by this package though.

I'm thinking the Regional Action Pack will include your RSN.

It's too bad they don't let all customers add the Multisport package to get their RSN regardless of the base package. You have to have Top 120 Plus or above to add it. My dad subscribes to it during football season for Red Zone and I've never understood the point in getting the other Fox Sports channels outside your area, they also said not available in your area so what is the point in the package?

Variety Pack has BET, Bravo, Crime and Investigation, FreeFrom, Investigation Discovery, Lifetime Movie Network
So BBC America isn't included in the Variety pack or the Flex pack. So if you want this one channel you have to stay with top 200 or do without? I just did an online chat and they said to call the number that they gave me and now I called and she said to call back in the am and talk to them and ask for the FLEX pack department to get the deal. If I have to do without BBC AMERICA , I guess I could. I only kept it for Grahmn Norton and for Dr. Who and Orphan Black.

Yes I know how you feel. I'd like to get Logo for the classic sitcom shows it has, but it's only available in the Top 250 now. We used to get it in the Movie Pack until they moved it. It isn't in any of these new add-on packages.

The screen shot certainly suggests at the moment the only way to get the Flex Package is to contact a CSR. And if you get a different core package you would have to contact a CSR again if you want Flex back.

It would be helpful if a DIRT member could post all the details for us.

In addition this is a departure from the way current packages have been obviously and I have to think this is another reason why DISH has had extended negotiations perhaps going back for quite sometime. They have been planning this and for all we know plan to expand it. I'm not surprised by this, I thought last week it seemed changes were coming.

I like the idea of package add-on's to create your own package. This reminds me of the C-Band dish days and I would get a channel package or find a la carte channels for my grandparents when they had one. I always liked how it had different options and different programmers to choose from. In order to keep customers from cord cutting or going with another provider, Dish needs to offer these options to retain customers. Most base packages get more expensive each year normally with a $5 increase with pretty well the same channels. It gets to a point where it's unaffordable for many.

Yeah, kind of interesting that we started seeing these changes shortly after the NBC deal was done and now all 4 major networks are done (and assuming all their other cable networks as well). I like the idea of the locals add on pack - wish Dish would allow us to remove locals from the core packages - I am in an area I can receive all but one of my Chicago locals reliably. Would love to save an extra $10 a month and just use my OTA.

With these add-on packs for $10, if you get them all, it is more expensive than Top 250 and you get less channels. So this is really designed for those who want a specific group of channels, or else it makes more sense to get the core package. Almost to the point where you could offer each individual channel for $5 for those that want very specific channels.

For $34.99, without locals and RSN's, the Flex Package is too expensive. Should be $24.99 or at the most $29.99. For someone with good internet service, PS Vue and SlingTV are much better values. It's good that Dish is trying something different, but this just doesn't offer enough value.

I LOVE this idea of packs. I have suggested this type of system for years, since I read that Canadian satellite systems used them. NO SPORTS if I don't want them , YES! But when I add them up for what I want ,there is only like $9.00 difference between top 200 and the flex packs. OF course there is $19.00 difference between top 250 and the flex packs on what I want. Either way it finally removes sports channels I never watch and have to support whether I want to or not, as well as the kid channels we don't need anymore. The beginnings of ala cart has finally started.:clapping

Just called the number again and they said the FLEX Pack department is still closed. Call back in two hours. They must be on mountain time because now they say 8:00am . I will wait till 9:00am my time and try again. They did say that the FLEX pack was just started yesterday and that not all DISH reps know about it yet.

Different strokes for different folks, in regards to this package! I was mentioning yesterday that my parents, who had DISH America, may have been interested in this package. Low and behold, they were. They are getting about 15-20 more USEFUL channels than DISH America by subscribing to Flex Pack + National Action Pack (for ESPN), and saving $5 a month. My mom is getting an antenna to get over the air, and will get that DISH OTA adapter once it is in stock again. I think this is a great option once my 2 year flat price expires, as well. I get the AT200 package right now, but purely upgraded due to the ability to get Disney Jr for my daughter, and Cooking/DIY for us. We had Sling, but hated the lack of being able to pause or DVR every channel. Once the 2 years are up, Flex + Kids pack would be perfect for us and cost us as much as now, or maybe a bit less....
