yeah. Pretty sad when people are trying to screw the legit FTA'er
Ironically, I think it's because of the pirates that the Neusat is so cheap lately. The fact that there is no theft software for it is keeping the price down. The fact that it's an excellent true FTA receiver, as well as being dirt cheap, is like gravy on the cake. The pirates' loss is our gain!

Unfortunately, there's a rumour is going around that Neusat as a company may be kaput. People are complaining that they don't answer their phones or emails, and their voice mail box is apparently full. Oh well. For $70 shipped, as long as the box works like everybody here says it does. I'm happy. (Although, I've heard that the external power is pretty weak, and may have trouble powering some motors and switches.)

It seems that many of these FTA receiver "companies" are pretty fly-by-night. Heck. I'm sure I could rent an office, start a website, and get a Korean or Chinese company to slap GarySat on the front of a few thousand FTA receivers. Voila! I'm the CEO of an FTA receiver company.

Other stuff? You mean there is somethnig other than FTA?
yep. Cleaning house, laundry, dishes. That kinda stuff (being single does have some drawbacks) :p

Also I am working on installing a P* dish. Had to remove all the weight and trying to put a P* dish on a regualr 1 5/8 mast (P* normally uses 2 3/8")

it works on my DMSI 4x1 switch no problems

you hit the nail on the head right there Gary. A LOT of these companies are fly by night. Come out with a box, get a bunch of people to buy them, then **poof** gone

I manually added a tp tonight. Thanks to Ice's instructions, it was a snap! I think easier than the fortec. I really like this receiver!!!!

So I was playing around with this receiver, and has anyone figured out how to save the receiver settings to the USB device? I sure can't. It looks like you can only use the USB to upgrade the receivers firmware.

That's a good question. I don't see an option to copy the settings to the usb drive.
I did upload the newest firmware from the Neusatusa site. I was hoping it would fix the blind scan issue but it didn't. I do not see a difference with the new firmware and of course there were no release notes with it either.

I have been using this receiver for a few days now and overall it is a good unit. The thing that will keep me from using it as my main box is the issue with the blind scan that Iceberg mentioned. It is a huge waste of time. The blind scan (not including when it scans from 12300 to 13000) is slow. The Traxis 3500 blows it away in terms of speed. The meter reads on the low side, I think 67% quality is the highest I have seen on any TP. The Picture Quality of the unit is very good, I like having the Svideo and component outputs. This greatly helps the picture quality on my LCD tv. I also like the looks of the unit, it's size and the nice remote that came with it.

I am using a Motek sg2100 with it and have had no problems for those that had concerns about that issue. It may just be me but it seems too move to different sats quicker that the traxis 3500, maybe that is just perception though.

I also got the CS5000 on the powerbuy. I think tomorrow I will start playing with it to see if I like it better.

I have LOS issues with both AMC6 and SBS6 or I would try to Compare. What readings are you getting on 11720 G10R ? Mine are at 49% quality. 53% strength. With this unit.

I have i more Primestar to hook up. I really don't see any other sats that interest me :-)

I still don't see how you do it without a motor. I guess I'm more a feed hunter, so I motor is must have for me. To me it would be kind of like working the A/V equipment without a remote but 10 times worse.

Well, I have 4 birds that I am on now, and I have everything that interests me. I did play around today and scan some others with the spare dish.

The best on the meter I saw was 71% and that was on GBN (that religious channel on AMC6)

AMC4 ABN is showing 72% thats the highest one so far.

The advantages you have with multiple fixed dishes are that you can switch channels instantly and have multiple receivers getting multiple satellites at the same time. Both capabilities are useful to have :)

Well this is my take on why I have multiple dishes vs. a motor. I started out this spring by wanting to get RTN on G10. Finally got that, then decided to add IA7 since it was close and cheap :-). Well, I started to read about the Primestar dishes. I found a few of those, cheap again, and bought some lnbs on ebay, again real cheap. So, before I knew it, I had multiple dishes, all pointed at the sats I wanted. I enjoy tinkering, so setting up the dishes and what not has been fun. I also did not want to sink a bunch of money into at first, just in case I was not happy with it. I know I have more $ wrapped up in my gear than a motorized system would have cost, but I would not have had the fun and learning that I have encountered. I have gotten pretty good in setting up a dish on my bucket mount, aiming for a bird, and within a few minutes I have a satellite! But, I have had lots of pratice and awesome advice from here. Now, with that said, the next item I buy will most likely be a motor. Why? I have no idea....I can see all the birds I want now :-)
