I read through bunch of the older posts, but not sure if it answers my questions, so hopefully some of you Dish veternas can answer.

I have dish International only programming for last 6 years with one 3700 receiver. My existing dish has a dual LNB and only one is used which feeds directly into the receiver. Yesterday the receiver got dropped and I think it needs to be replaced. Also, I am thinking about adding a second receiver to my account. I was looking at ebay and it seems like two 301 / 311 (or a single 322, but seems like two seperate 301 / 311 give more flexibility). Now here is what I am confused:

A lot of receivers on sale have no access card? Do I have to buy a receiver that comes with a card or I can just purchase a receiver and Dish will send me the card upon activation?

How can I make sure both the receiver and access card can be activated? Most of the acutions do not give you the serial numbers?

I am correct in thinking that I can simply connect the second LNB output to the second receiver? or do I need additional equipment?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Hi, Can anyone answer the need to buy the access cards and the setup for the second receiver.

Thanks,
JH

Alot of the recivers have access cards bulit in (thus an empty access card slot) I would actually call dish for the upgrade and skip the ebay idea so that way if anything goes wrong with the reciver your still covered. I think its only 49 dollars for the upgrade depending on what level teir of a coustomer you are. Make sure that you get the S00 and the R00 number and call dish with those numbers to make sure there in the clear if ordering from ebay. I belive 301's and 311's should have access cards physically there ;) and they are not bulit in internally :)

If you go the ebay route, at least PM the seller, and get the R/S numbers from the receivers. Then call Dish tech support and check if the numbers have a balance due.

Yes. My legacy system worked that way for 7+ years...

But, I just read somewhere that 311/322 are DishPro compatable receivers and may not work with Legact LNB setup. Is it true? Do I have to get a older 4 digit model (3700, 4000....) to work with this legacy dual LNB/ Dish 300 setup?

Thanks.
JH

DishPro receivers work with ALL setup (301, 311, 522, etc..the 3 digit numbers)

Legacy (4000, 4900, 5000, etc 4 digit numbers) only work on Legacy

I used a 301 (DishPro) setup on Legacy LNB's/switches for 3 years :)

Guys, thanks a lot for quick replies. One of my last Q's from teh original post:

preferrably one with a card....Dish will charge you like 50 bucks for a new card. Exception is the cardless models. (well the card is built in)

Any 4 digit model has a card
older 3 digit ones do too (301, 501, 508, 510, 721, 921)

942 vs. 622
