need to know if this is a good dish

If its free its good. I dont know if it will do ku, someone else would though. Needs a good cleaning. If you want to tell if it does ku. Take a grinder wheel to a dremel and grind till you hit the mesh on the backsidfe of the dish and look at the mesh of the dish.
I don't see why it wouldn't do KU, provided it has the feedhorn and KU LNB. I have C and KU on my 10 ft mesh.
It doesn't look mesh to me. If you're getting it real cheap or free, I don't see how you can go wrong
ok big fiberglass dishes
they are heavy
they (as they get older and stay out in the weather & sun) get brittle (easy to break)

I used to have one, so I'm well acquainted with them.
The dish has 3 issues...
1. As Gab said, they are heavy. If you have dealt with heavy dishes before then it's not an issue but if you haven't then be advised there are extra things that need to be taken into account when installing and operating.
2. It's a deep dish, with an f/d of about .32. There are considerations about feedhorn centering and tuning. It's got a stiff monopole so getting it in the correct position is tough. Deep dishes are deficient in gain because the feedhorn has a harder time seeing the whole dish surface because the focal length is shorter. They were designed to be shielded more from terrestrial interference but today we aren't plagued nearly as much with it.
3. These dishes, while commercial in build quality, are known to have a problem with surface accuracy on the outer third of the panel. There is nothing that can be done about this, so I personally would tread lightly. The 3 piece 2.4 meter prime focus Prodelin didn't have this problem...it was unique to this model.

if there are others then yes pass and mark this one as you can get if needed.

right now it is stationary due to the actuator being off out of curiousity how much does the dish weigh
380lbs that is light compared to my MircoDine 462lbs with it mount, if I need to work on the feed, set on bird bath an walk in the dish an take the cone off. but that was a commercial dish, 10 1/2 feet across, an 18 7/8" deep. an what amazes me is have had the same actuator on it for 20+ years now VonWeise, back when they had Uniden 705 name on the boot of that motor.

Iceberg gets most everything on C-band with 6', if you read his posts.
That's a C-band only setup, and you'll need something to run the servo to change from V to H polarity (and set the skew).
... as well as something to run the motor to move the dish.
That could be as simple as an old analog receiver, but you read the site - this has been discussed weekly. -
As for the $85...
People get similar dishes for free, but have to take them down.
Here, it looks like all you have to do is take it home.
If it seems mechanically sound and not deformed, I'd think it was an adequate deal.
That dish is sure going to weigh a heck of a lot less than the 10' fiberglass in your first post! - :up
