Need help with install

hello i have a Directv Slimline model sl3s4nr2-01 and a dvr receiver model number r16-300...i dont have a power inverter because i dont know if i need one..im not getting any signal and was wondering is i was missing a part or if my dish is not capable..and also is it only one coax that goes into the receiver? because it has two ports..ty for the help

Yes, you need a power inserter. It's very important, don't connect your dvr without it! A cable goes from the lnb to the power inserter and then from the power inserter to the dvr port #1.
