Hello,
I now live in an apartment complex has a single dish on the building feeding the entire apartment building. It is a 3 LNB dish only, with no plans for a 5 LNB upgrade. I have two wires coming into my apartment, which I have connected to sat inputs 1 and 2 of my HR10-250 HD Tivo.
I purchased a second HR10-250 to add to my system. I put my 3x8 Trunkline JVI 35-TR38MS multiswitch inline, with my two cables going into the LNB A and B inputs, and 4 reciever outputs to the respective input on the Tivo's.
However, when running throught the guided setup and choosing 3 LNB for each Tivo it fails on the tivos, with 101 testing fine but 110 and 119 being hit or miss.
When I used this multiswitch I only needed one satellite to feed my two tivos, but now that I have the 3 LNB for 3 satellites, my multiswitch doesn't work.
I've been told I needed a cascadable multiswitch and also been told this won't work either. I've been told I need four cables coming into my apartment and also that I don't need four cables but can get away with two cables if I add a special, new splitter DirectTV installers use for the new HD channels. The installer I spoke to said it was a part number (from memory here) R34 for or R3B... Unfortunately, the company that manages this apartment complex will charge me $250 to hook up my additional receiver... If all I need is a splitter or cascadable multiswitch, I'm not going to pay that much.
Can anyone give me advice here on what I need to supply my 2 HR10-250's two inputs each that support channels on all 3 LNB's?
Do I absolutely need 4 lines from the dish into the apartment?
OR, is there truly a cascadable multiswitch and/or new splitter that will allow me to use the 2 lines coming into the apartment to supply the Sat1 and Sat2 input on each of the two HR10-250's?
Please advise on what my option(s) are and where I can purchase one of the parts if needed. Thanks!!!
