Channel 8 has a 42 signal, and now a DC light.

Channels 8, 9, 11, 14, 15, 16, all have 42 or more for signal. Higher channels are 10 or 12 for signal except 23 which is 42. Every once in a while I see a green flash.

I have to work in an hour. I work as a vsr (virtual service representive) out of my home. This is my busy night . I'll put in about 18 hours between now and Monday morning. Then I can relax.

do you know how to fine tune or tune one click at a time east or west

on channel 9 or 10 should be analog channels probably Home shopping or QVC

Yes I can fine tune with one click at a time. Let me try that.

On channel 9 dish at 4760 I have a 42-50 signal. Skew is at 25. Still no picture.

ok i know were running out of time before you goto work
try the stronger channel 23 and fine tune it

What will this channel look like? Will it be a black screen or colored bars or what?

When I turn on the channel 23 I see a flash of green then the gray screen that says cannot find channel. continuing to search...

if you have a videociper board in it would give you a not authorized screen unless you have a subscription.

we can try one more thing , i know we are trying to get g1 but i suspect that this is actually amc 10 ( C4) if you go in and change satellites and try to change this to C4 instead of G1 lets see what that does ( hopefully the dish wont move but you have the count # .

should be commands 6 - 4 - 4

Okay I'm at 4760 with a solid signal of 42. Channel is 23. It doesn't do anything to move the skew. I have a DC light. But still no picture. I have seen a few flashes of green, and once or twice a distorted color bar flashed. I give up.

I have to start work now. But I did what you said. I think you're right. I think it is C4. I'll try to do more tomorrow or the next day. Thanks for all your help.

yeah i will read up on fine tuning and try a few things when i get home
its also hard to walk someone through without a receiver in front of ya
but at least we know we are close.

do you mean the Vc light is coming on or Dc? cause i think only dc light pops on when ur on G1 3 on analog if im right. A easy way to do this is. start all the way West turn it to channel 21 which will be Discovery channel do u have a VCRS unit in ur 4dtv? if u do u should get a black screen with white writing that says something ur not subed to this channel . and it will tell u its Discovery .. then start tracking the arc with the first sat on west will be C4 that comes in for me . C4 21 a (VC) light should come on not Dc inless ur on the digital's which will be C4 601 is discovery also and a (DC) light will come on and say ur not subed it looks a little different like a digital look good luck once u get one say locked they will come easy let us know what happens ok

I have DC lights on several analog channels as I tried to search and set while I worked last night. I have the VCRS (if that's the module that slides into the back of the unit).. My channels use to say no subscription prior to this problem, but now all I get is cannot find channel continuing to search. Can't find any pictures. Every once in awhile I get a flash of green. Tried fine tuning with skew and moving dish one click at a time.

I worked all night and just got off, so I'm going to bed. Working tonight also, so may not be able to work on dish tonight. Any suggestions please leave in this thread. I'll try them when I get off work.

lizzie, I'm just getting caught up with your thread. And what comes to mind to me, that is, what sticks out at me, is that your polarity seems like it could be off. Is there a way you could go out to the dish and turn your lnb 90 degrees and see what happens? Mark it so you know where to put it back at, if this is not the problem? This is just an idea, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try?
Or go into "Options" 6-4-2 and look at #4 and see if it's on Standard or Rotated 90?

Hi Al,
My dish is on a pole and on a hillside, so I'm not willing to climb to find out about the LNB. Everything was working fine until the receiver went crazy. If I press 6 4 2 the number 4 has Standard checked. The #1 has Linear/East checked. Thanks for your help.
