I came home from work to find that my satellite dish has been damaged. Can you point me in the right direction to get it fixed?

Might be an occasion when the Protection Plan would be a good idea.

The protection plan doesn't cover damaged dishes. A DNS tech may or may not replace it for free but dealers are not able to RA dishes or be reimbursed for them.

Hmmm. Are you sure? I thought my plan covered ALL equipment.

Like I said in the prior post there is no way for a dealer who does a service call to RA or get reimbursed for a dish. We've been told in the past that dishes are not covered, LNB's of course, dishes no.

And FYI for KAB, dishes are not free, nor are they cheap, especially after adding the shipping charges.

Here's from the service plan... I do believe it's part A would apply.

3. Exclusions from Coverage: Your Plan does not cover:
A) SERVICE, MAINTENANCE, REPAIR, OR REPLACEMENT DUE TO ANY LOSS RESULTING FROM USAGE OTHER THAN NORMAL USAGE AND BEYOND DISH NETWORK'S NORMAL CONTROL SUCH AS: DAMAGE DUE TO MISUSE, ABUSE,INSECT OR OTHER INFESTATION, FIRE, WATER, FOREIGN
SUBSTANCES, ORGANIC MATERIALS, WINDSTORM, HAIL, EARTHQUAKE, THEFT, TERRORISM/WAR, NEGLIGENCE, RIOT, OR ACTS OF GOD;
B) INSTALLATION AND INSTALLATION WORKMANSHIP, IF THE INSTALLATION WAS NOT PERFORMED BY DISH NETWORK, A DISH NETWORK AUTHORIZED TECHNICIAN, OR A DISH NETWORK AUTHORIZED RETAILER;
C) INSTALLATIONS NOT GROUNDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH DISH NETWORK STANDARDS;
D) RE-INSTALLATION AND/OR THE RE-CONNECTION OF YOUR PRODUCT(S), IF PRODUCT REPLACEMENT IS SHIPPED TO YOU;
E) COMMERCIAL OR INSTITUTIONAL USE WHICH IS DEFINED AS ANY USE OTHER THAN SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSEHOLD USE;
F) EXTERIOR OR COSMETIC ITEMS OF THE PRODUCT, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, PAINT, FINISH, BEZEL, CORDS, CABLES, AND CONNECTORS;
G) 'ON-OPERATING COMPONENTS OF THE PRODUCT;
H) INTERNAL SOFTWARE, BATTERIES, AND COMPONENTS NOT ESSENTIAL TO BASIC PRODUCT FUNCTIONALITY;
I) ANY COMPONENT OR PRODUCT THAT HAS BEEN OPENED, TAMPERED WITH, REPAIRED, OR OTHERWISE ACCESSED BY ANYONE OTHER THAN AN AUTHORIZED DISH NETWORK SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE OR CENTER;
J) REPAIR OF PRODUCT(S) UPON NON-COMPLIANCE OF ANY PART OF SECTION 5 BY YOU;
K) COVERAGE, COMPONENTS, PRODUCTS, OR ITEMS NOT SPECIFICALLY LISTED HEREIN;
L) SERVICE OUTSIDE OF DISH NETWORK'S SERVICE AREA IN THE CONTINENTAL U.S., INCLUDING PUERTO RICO, THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AND PORTIONS OF ALASKA;
M) YOUR TELEVISION OR EQUIPMENT RELATED TO YOUR TELEVISION; OR DISH BRANDED TELEVISIONS/MONITORS;
N) INSTALLATION PARTS AND COMPONENTS NOT CURRENTLY STOCKED BY DISH NETWORK, AT DISH NETWORK'S SOLE DISCRETION;
O) NON DISH-BRANDED INSTALLATION COMPONENTS

long lasting effect for a short term problem. rate will increase much more then the cost to just replace it. look for a neighbor with an unused one or craigslist.

The dish part is fine. It is just the arm that holds the LNB (Sorry, if my terminology is off) is twisted so that I receive no signal. I have spoken to a DIRT member and have set an appointment to get it fixed. I do have the protection plan. My question is if the repairman deems the damage to be vandalism, will I be charged the full repair?

Besides the $15 for the protection plan service call the absolute most you should be charged for is a replacement dish, which isn't that bad, usually $25 to $75. If it's a DNS tech that doesn't pay for the parts or a dealer with extra dishes it will probably be no charge. If he doesn't charge you then you should probably give him a tip. :)

What services will this lnb work with and is it a good brand?
