NCAA Football 2014 season

Ironically that's where Miss St. is sitting pretty. As long was they beat Ole Miss and Alabama beats Auburn, then they don't have to risk losing to Missouri or Georgia like Alabama has to.

True......but Conference champs will eventually leapfrog St. Unless other champs are a big surprise.

Its just better quality players, coaches and football. And if Miss St had beaten Bama I would firmly state that they were the best in the country and the last part would really piss you off. If they had won they could drop up to 2 games and remain in the playoff due to the murderers row nature of the SEC, IMO

The difference in INDIVIDUALS players drafted by conference is not that much higher from SEC to ACC. In this years draft, ACC was just behind the ACC.

By the looks of the draft, conference affiliation in the NFL really means little.
We had this conversation just a couple of weeks ago, so you are late to the party.

Finally, it does not matter if you ranked 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th...so long as you are in the top 4, it really does not matter. AND it matters less NOW where you are ranked than it does at the end of the year.
THE best 4 teams are Alabama, FSU, Miss St and Oregon....regardless of order.

Must be the superior coaching. Saban makes 1.5 million more a year(7.16 million) than any other coach and I think the lowest paid SEC coach is 2 million. So tell me what makes the ACC teams suck so badly if the talent is the same. which I do not believe. How can their be so many good teams in the SEC and so few in the ACC if the talent is the same? It cant be the same the next tier that doesn't get drafted must be much much better in the SEC. I recall hearing on Saturday that Bama only had one or two players that were not at least 4 star recruits on the team. (I heard one announcer say it, haven't fact checked it) That's a whole lot of good solid depth that ACC teams must not have and probably a serious advantage in the 4th quarter or if injury occurs. Bama just keeps churning out great LBs, DBs, RBs, etc. One right after the other. Ingram, Lacy, Richardson, Yeldon, Drake, Henry in how many years? On the receiver side, Cooper, White, Jones etc. I don't see that coming at that rate from any ACC team. What amazes me is that for all the talent they cant put together a consistent stable of great kickers.

Barrett being a QB that was going to be pro-quality was not exactly a surprise and I look for him to be playing (ala Bridgewater) as a newbie in the NFL in a few years (when he decides to go pro.) As I told wife, when Miller was deemed unable to play, tOSU was not in all that bad of shape, Barrett would have started at over 90% of the Div I teams as a freshman, even the SEC ones. :eeek He was not exactly an unknown quantity in his skill as a QB.
Braxton went down 2 weeks before the season started ... at THAT TIME, Cardale Jones was the back up QB to Miller That said, it had been mentioned that Barrett was progressing.

Also, Barrett had not played a snap at QB in 2 years, since he was injured in High School.

Just think, IF Missouri should win the East and the SEC Championship, the Big Tens bottom team would have beat the Best of the SEC.:eeek:clapping:D
Kind of like the last place team in the coastal beating the current king of the big 10.

Only difference is one has already happened.

Except My scenario would be a MUCH larger happening ... as they could eventually become the National Champs (Missouri), where as the Coastal bottom team can not.
Nah, a Missouri winning would never get in the playoffs without tons of others losing.

All you would be left with is the satisfaction of a lesser big ten team beating a fluke.

Which is pretty much the same thing we are giving you crap over. :D

In either case, its about the same. Well, nah, yalls loss is still worse.

Nah, you got it right ....

The coastal team beat the Big Ten team, THAT was a fluke.

And it wouldn't be the other way. OK, I was curious if you saw objectively only one way. Haha. At least you admit it here.
Do I think Indiana could beat Missouri again if they played again this year, No ...
That said, Va Tech couldn't beat Ohio State again either.

Fwiw, Va Tech was suppose to be a pretty good team this year, thus playing them would have been a benifit, not a negative on the overall slate of games.

I've been listening to alot of College Football radio (Sirius 91) of late just to hear the National opinion ....

Many people are bitching about teams playing poor Out Of Conference teams ... which we all do ... however NO ONE has pointed out that these schedules are made up 10 years in advance .... you can't just change your schedule on a dime.

As a proponent of having early polls I agree.

As a realist with hindsight it makes no difference. A sh*t team is a sh*t team.

Its a negative now, coupled with the perceived weak schedule. It's a mix. It is what it is.

That is true. When it comes to the big name teams that are scheduled anyway.
However a Western Carolina is a Western Carolina, no matter when you make the schedule.

The issue of playing such a game this late in the season is curious ...
Usually these type of games are played early to serve as a pre season game of sorts, this way you get into game flow before your bigger or conference games come along.

I much rather see these biggerbgames After a team has several games in, so they are playing well when the bigger games come along.

Most teams take 2,3 games to get into the flow of thier season.

Well, we have discussed the reason that they do it. Whether that remains a valid reason in the age of the selection committee remains to be seen.
