Some sorta rule with not allowing trading picks in such a pattern year wise. They would need a 3rd team to get picks to Orlando, while Pau would go that team. Bynum and Pau would put them over Orlando's cap, Dwight makes 19.5M, Pau makes 19M and Bynum $16.899M. It would need to be Bynum and picks(from a 3rd team), with Pau to some 3rd team, maybe Houston as they wanted Pau in december.
Thanks for clearing that up for me juc.

Your welcome. I don't quite understand the NBA cap like I do the NFL cap, but it is more of a soft cap where you can over the cap, but only when re-signing own players. Very few teams have cap space each year, which makes it rare for a big name guy to change spots if not by Sign and Trade. There is the 30% rule on trades, might be different with new CBA, not 100% sure though. There is also a luxury tax, which is a big time thing, go over and you pay 1M per dollar I believe.

Stoudemire and Anthony play together like Erving and McGinnis: my turn, your turn; my turn, your turn...

And you saw how far that got the Heat LAST year...that will NOT lead to a championship.

NFL has the best cap over every other sport and every other sport should follow and Howard is going to be interesting where he lands :)

How the mighty have fallen...! Mavs MAY NOT make the playoffs this coming season...UNLESS they pull off a miracle and land Howard. In OTHER news, Allen has cancelled his visit to the Clippers and has stayed in Miami....so far. It is now down to 2 teams and Allen's decision will be simple: in one hand, the Heat have a better chance to win the title again... or in the other hand, more money and make the Celtics fan happy. Either way, it will be a win-win for Ray-Ray.

I don't think the Lakers will trade both Pau and Bynum.

This is the first time I've heard of this clause:

The Philadelphia 76ers will release former All-Star Elton Brand under the league's amnesty clause, according to sources.

Teams that did not use their one-time amnesty clause last season can waive one player via the amnesty provision between July 11-17 and see that player's contract figures vanish from the team's payroll for salary-cap and luxury-tax purposes.

Brand will still collect the full $18 million that the Sixers owe him next season, but he will first be offered to teams under the salary cap through the waiver process, with under-the-cap teams able to lodge bids for him.

After this season I don't think Allen has any class or leadership. Pouted when he had to come off the bench after it took him forever to "heal".

If he wants to make this about Rondo, that's fine, he is a cog and Rondo is the wheel, its funny how KG and Rondo butted heads but KG showed that he has leadership and didn't affect his decisions.

I read a tweet from Adrian Wojernowski(sp?) Where he said that Ray thought he built up enough good will to make the move to a rival. He really can't be that dumb, so your going to go join 2 of the biggest enemies of the Celtics, Pat Riley and Dwayne Wade, and think fans are going to be OK with it?

Good luck and break a leg, literally ;)

My NBA Christmas Day guesses:

Pacers/Nets, Heat/Celtics, Knicks/Lakers, Clippers/Grizzlies, Thunder/Nuggets

Usually the main event is the rematch between the 2 teams that were in he Finals.

I think the Ray Allen signing will help the Heat MUCH MORE than it will hurt the Celtics. IMO, the Celtics have enough answers (Jason Terry and Avery Bradley) to make up for Ray-Ray's absence.

I think so as well. The issues between him and Rondo were past the point of mending. I think the signing of Jason Terry pretty much sealed the deal..so to speak.
