The eye patch/one legged crowd has finally done something really good (and legal) for a change.

With the BIG drop in recent receiver prices I've now (just today) accomplished my ultimate goal of getting my 6 "adopted" orphanages here in Baja Mexico up an running on 100% legal FTA rigs. Eye patch guys and gals - selling me cheap boxes (mostly from Canada?) for cents on your original dollars has really done some eventual good.

Additional props to the guy (also in Canada) where I've been buying really solid linear LNB's for like $8 US delivered that are extremely compatible with the SKY dished I find laying around all over down here.

For those of you who have or have not followed along, my 11 year old "apprentice" Carlos did his first 100% install this afternoon - and I'm talking mounting, cable runs, connectors, skew fine tuning, blind scan and all. His "graduation" gift was my old Birdog meter and his own set of tools. He certainly did earned them.

See - the patch crowd really does help out (even if they don't mean to).

Thanks to all the sat guys who helped me get this project started. Could not have gotten this done without you guys. Special mention to Anole & Ice who both showed more patience with newbee questions than the law allows.

Thanks to you guys, I was able to "do a good thing" - over 100 kids with virtually nothing have a little bit of joy in their day.

Mike

six ?

Six orphanages?
You HAVE been a busy boy! -
Congratulations.

So, ever get any BUDs going, or anything for the local cantina?

give a kid FTA, he'll watch tv in one place, TEACH a kid FTA and he'll watch tv anywhere he wants.

No BUDS (no time!), but thinking of playing with mini-BUD C band with the old DW dish now that the other project is finished.

Cantina is up too.

Do I have a servicing route now?

:clap MikeinBaja, Great Job For The Good! :hatsoff:

Was A Great Story!

Very nice story. :up

Curiosity question, which sat(s) do you aim for? What channels are the children interested in? I assume these are fixed dish setups.

Have all of them on 123. Good mix of both Spanish and English programming, which helps with their english lessons.

I should probably start watching more spanish, me espanol is muoy mallo.

Geat job mike.

Now its time to go back to that one install the hacker repointed all your gear and sold you customer a hot box and show thrm the curent price on that box they got swindled into.

To all the fools using new gear to get "free tv" you time will come. The internet is so ez to find ones true location. It won't be like the old days when dave sent out letters because of your paper trail. The inernet gives them the proof that you are on a server that is for steling tv service and no other resion to be on it. Enjoy your new life with no job because of your fed conviction just to save $30 a month.

Thanks for picking at an old scab :p, that wound had just about healed over!

Actually, the dude put hackware on MY box (CS6000)! It lasted maybe 10 days, then I went back & put everything back to legit FTA.

Agree that it is difficult (but not impossible) to hide your IP addy. Net is not nearly as "secure" as most think.
