God take that ****** out of the HD list, worst channel of them all?
Family guy looks 100000000000000 better on ToonHD, and on TBS-HD its like watching pure ****.
Agree/Disagree.

Are you mostly talking about the non-HD content they show stretched or actual rare HD content compared to other channels?

And this really should be in the general satellite thread because this is a TBS issue not DirecTV specific.

I was just talking about Familyguy that I was trying to watch on TBS the other night, but for non HD content on TBS HD I think TBS should just crop it, because it just messes up the users experience.
Question, does TBS even have any true HD channels at all other than SD channels broadcasted on their HD channels that are stretched?

Well instead of cropping just present the material in the OAR and use pillar and/or letter boxing.

They have had rare HD content; the live sports is one that comes to mind. I did not watch but those that did said it was very good.

I am not ready to pass any judgment on channels like TBS that make their living off of syndicated programming as I am not 100% sure that their carriage agreement or contracts allow them, or ever spelled out if they can re-air the program exactly like the originating network/owner did. So I am will to cut them some slack over that BUT do wish they would just show them in the OAR

I also can give a bit of slack on shows these types of channels actually produce themselves, but that have been in production a good while and are likely still being shot as 4:3; but again OAR please.

They had SpiderMan on the other day and it looked decent for TBS, I dont know if that was their version of true HD for TBS

Check out TBS and TNT right now. Both are showing the Wizard of Oz. Streteched on TBS and pillarboxed on TNT. Makes a good comparison for people who don't know/don't care about OAR. I'm hoping that more people are watching the TNT version and Turner figures it out.

Is this the first time that TNT has had a 4:3 program not in stretch-o-vision?

NO!

They showed The Wizard of Oz last year in OAR on the TNT HD channel.

Well then, it's good to know that they CAN do it, even though they normally don't. I wonder why. Has anyone gotten a reason from them?

I think the answer is "Because they can".

The real reason is they cater to the lowest common denomenator where "this is an HD channel because if fills up the screen" is the divisor.

Slimline LNB Problems

Rd zone shows the game in HD, but no dedicated channel
