My Direc tv Dilema- Stay or go?

I would schedule the cutoff for the date you are paid through, that would at least show in the notes, and perhaps give you more leverage. Of course, be prepared to have it really shut off in the off chance that it does not.

Ok,

Im ready to do just that. Funny thing is all they have to do
is make me feel like a valued sub and ill gladly stay..

Not a great way for them to show loyalty towards their
long standing subs..But...ok

...CSR said I should set up another provider
on 30th just in case nothing is done....

Wow, this doesn't really install confidence, now does it. I would suggest calling back, but I swear if you call too many times they are more willing to cut you loose.

I agree. However at this point next call
I make will be to cancel.

I'm sure others have had similar experiences.
I guess if your not treated well you leave.

I totally understand as I had a similar experience and that was why I left. Rest assured once you leave, they will offer you way more then it would have taken to keep you in the first place.

So I called direc to cancel.
Retention reviewed account once again. I was told
that I have received no credit or upgrades in 3 years.
That I'm an Ideal customer??
They told me to wait seven days and office of president
will call me back and resolve issue.

Im all paid up until may 30th.
Should I just pull plug already or wait???

Really have little faith that ''issue'' will be fixed.
All I wanted to do was upgrade...

The office of the president is normally very good about resolving customer issues. Have faith! BTW, the HR44 isn't in general release yet and you aren't in a beta test market. It should be available within a month or so.

What manner of upgrade do you consider yourself entitled to?

He said he would like an HR44 and two clients. I didn't get the sense that he felt entitled though, just that he has been a good customer long enough that he should be eligible.

Not so sure. I'm surely not in a beta test market in Mississippi, and had mine installed last week. Granted he said it was the first one that they had gotten here, but seems that they are rolling out now.

That's why I said they aren't in general release. They have shown up in some areas outside of the test markets.

These are the test markets:

Charlotte, NC
Cleveland, OH
Denver, CO
Des Moines, IA
Fresno, CA
Minneapolis, MN
Phoenix, AZ
Pittsburgh, PA
Raleigh, NC
St Louis, MO
Los Angeles, CA

Thanks, I missed what the OP was after.

As for the difference between feeling entitled and "being a good customer long enough", I'm not sure I understand the distinction.

Perhaps it's a difference without a distinction.

Semantics.

Listen, I've been with Direc since
1997. 3 years ago was the last time I've
Had upgrades and discounts.

I'm not looking for freebies. However
After such time and a lots of money
Spent on additional sports packages,
I'd appreciate an upgrade at a promotional price.
Am I asking for the world? No not really. Nor am
I demanding it.

So, today I cancelled my Direc service. My favorite service.
For simple reason of bring treated poorly.
The product is fantastic.

Hopefully Direc will reach out. If not ill move on

Did you not hear from the office of the president?

I cancelled for next Thursday.
Maybe by seeing that I am going through with
cancellation they might make an effort.

If not, thats ok...

My plan is to have direc tv
back for football. But that
might change because this has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I just don't get it?

You are one out of some 15 or so million customers. A few will fall through the cracks on an occasion. Don't take it personally!

That's enough time to get a break on new stuff . They over credited you?? Well that's not right they punish you since and won't give you any deals . I'd cancel too and wait until you get a winback offer. Who cares about loyalty, do what's best for you and go with the best option. I have dish now but will be switching to directv. Direct has my wife's channels in the lower tv package and dish doesn't. These companies make tons of me and we the customers are the very reason for that.

I totally agree with you dish fan.
I've never cancelled before.
So, I'll see if they do the win back
Offer.

Typically you'll hear something in 10-14 days ...
Let us know what they have to say.

Loosing a long time sub is something they don't do often without an explanation.
