I've had a Terk 5x8 multiswitch for a long time that I tried to install once and didn't get it to work cause I didn't know you had to have 4 connections from the 3 LNB dish connected for it to work... Now that I have 3 HD boxes there wasn't enough bandwidth so I had to get it set up and found out about my shortcomings of the previous try, only problem is there are only 3 cables coming into the house from my dish. Everything seems to be working fine but I can't help but wonder what I'm missing! Can someone explain this to me? I have 2x 18v connections and 1x the 13v connection.

You have to have that fourth line run from the dish connected to your 4x8 switch in order for it to work correctly. I'm surprised you didn't see times when a tuner couldn't find a channel.

Well there was a basic 2x4 multiswitch up there before with one line hooking up directly to somewhere in my house and it was all working great till I originally hooked up my 5x8 which than gave me searching for sat errors. I hooked up that 3rd direct line into the 18v this last run and viola. So ya it's working fine thus far.

It is really a moot point seeing you will need to upgrade to an AU9 dish and a WB68 switch to get the new HD channels coming next month, along with either H20 or HR20 MPEG4 receivers.

Regardless, if you need more than 4 lines for receivers, you will need four cables from the dish (AU9) into the 6x8 (WB68) multiswitch.
