I had service installed last week and had a question regarding the multiplexer.
I had an existing DVR placed in my bedroom. The installer said he couldn't run the second line for it because "God himself couldn't get another cable in there" (His exact words). Since then, I have found a deceptively simple way to get this second wire in. I looked at the multiplexer on the side of the house and noticed there is an open output on it. Can I just run this cable myself and hook it into the multiplexer?
Thanks

FIRST OFF - WELCOME!

Are we talking about multi-switch (multiplexer)?

Can you describe your hardware for us, as some items operate a bit differently from others.

1. Dish model?

2. Receiver models & how many of each?

3. Any additional external hardware; such as multi-switches? Model?

assuming it is a multiswitch outside, you can hookup another line unless the open port you speak of is a flex port, those are for additional sat dishes.

Not sure on the dish model, but it's a newer HD dish. 4 cables from the dish run into the multiplexer (multi-switch). I currently have an HD DVR, a standard DVR, and two standard receivers. These all have home runs to the multi switch, with the exception of the second input on the standard DVR. The port I noticed on the switch is labeled "Out 8". If it helps, I can get the model numbers, etc. of the receivers.

The correct multiswitch for HDTV is WB68 which has 8 outputs. HD DVR would be 2 inputs 2 standard receivers would be 2 more lines, a SD DVR with only 1 line connected would be 5 outputs you should have 3 open ports not 1. Yes you should be able to connect to port 8.

A little update -
There's actually two open ports on the switch. Apparently, the installer hooked up a cable that just runs into the room next to the room where I need to go. I strectched a cable across the room to test everything, and it all worked good. So, now all I have to do is run across the one room and into the other and I'll be all set.
Thanks everybody for all your help!
