I've had Dish since last June and have been totally happy with everything including the HD line up. As of recently Around Feb 1st I noticed that the black levels are off considerably. I have my 47inch Panny calibrated and now it seems like I'm noticing horrible "muddy" blacks and "some" ghosting coming from Dish. Anyone else have a similar problem? I know for a fact it's NOT my TV as my 27inch HD set in the game room has the same issue. I've reset the box several times with no indication that this problem is going to clear up.

I know it's a petty thing to lose sleep over but I can't help it. LOL!

If you have an 811 and it's hooked up with component cables, that's the problem. They screwed up the black level on the component output with the last firmware update.

If you can connect with DVI, do it.

Thanks NOH! For a minute I thought I was going mad! Anyone know if they plan on a fix for this? I have an HDMI input so I guess I would need a DVI to HDMI cable which I don't plan on buying since it's "their" problem.

I wouldn't count on it. THe black level adjustment they did was a supposed "fix".

Considering the black level between the DVI and Component outputs were previously very similar, Knowing the 811 track record, I would almost expect them to screw up the DVI Output with the next update..... you never know.

I would suggest trading in your 811 for a 211.

I've been reading about this over at AVS. There's a lot of complaining going on. I suppose they rasied the blk level from 0.0 IRE to 7.5. Are they charging at this point to swap out 811's for 211's?

To swap from a 811 to a 211 is $49.

If you get a 211, you are required to upgrade your package to one of the DishHD matallic packs, which in my oppinion, are not worth it unless you are interested in the VOOM channels.

Vip 622 In Box, Not!

Anyone else noticing more problems with 942 since Feb 1st ?
