Mpeg 1.5

I noticed on the c-band side of Anik F1 that there are channels that use a MPEG 1.5 format...what is that, and can I get it with my Pansat 2700R ?

Directtv uses a modified mpeg 1.5 format. It uses a less robust compression scheme than mpeg 2 and as directtv was pretty much in a hurry to be the first small dish dbs system they went with the mpeg 1.5 scheme while the others that came after used mpeg 2. Of course all directtv programming is encrypted, not sure about Anik F1 but as far as I know your reciever won't handle mpeg 1.5

It's an older PowerVu format.
No the 2700 won't work. There is only one specific receiver that will work. Even if you did have one though, you would still need to get it authorized. Which would never happen.

The Scientific Atlanta PowerVu 9222 will do MPEG 1.5, but as mkm4 pointed out, authorization would probably not be granted.
