Gang - been a while, I have not kept up with all the latest developments, and got my dish back on G19 hoping to watch programs on the free Retro TV East (97W, 12115V, vpid 1792, apid 1793) - lyngsat says it's now 'mpeg-4' and I'm getting data from the transponder (Using an old SkyStar2 and Linux, works! I've played some of the other mpeg2 transport stream data with it), but the data for RTN I can only get audio from mplayer on linux - if mplayer can't play it I don't know what can! Tried VLC on Windows and linux, that does not even play the audio.

Anyone have a tip so I can enjoy MST3K and Cisco Kid again? :)

Using dvb-apps to turn and record the data - this is old stuff but still works:

# /usr/local/bin/szap -l 10750 -c /root/.szap/channels.conf-IA5_97W_2016 RTN
reading channels from file '/root/.szap/channels.conf-IA5_97W_2016'
zapping to 3 'RTN':
sat 0, frequency = 12115 MHz V, symbolrate 22425000, vpid = 0x0700, apid = 0x0701 sid = 0x0700
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'

# /usr/local/bin/test_dvr /mnt/sata/ia5/test_dvb_4-17-2016.ts 0x700 0x701

writing to '/mnt/sata/ia5/test_dvb_4-17-2016.ts'
adding filter for PID 0x0700
set filter for PID 0x0700 on fd 5
adding filter for PID 0x0701
set filter for PID 0x0701 on fd 6

To clarify, I can use dvb-apps like always and easily get Russia Today and other, just not RTN on that Satellite.

Thanks in advance!

Ok, found it - sorry if rather technical but you can get Retro TV Network with just an old pci card and some software ;) The secret sauce seems to be 'generate presentation timestamp' (genpts) - using ffmpeg (or now avconv on ubuntu) this worked for me, no claims to be optimum (or that I even know what I'm talking about :)

chuck@OSCompute1:~/satsignals$ avconv -fflags +genpts -i /mnt/s1/ia5/RTN_1.ts -c:av copy RTN_1a.mkv

Input #0, mpegts, from '/mnt/s1/ia5/RTN_1.ts':

Stream #0.1[0x700]: Video: h264 (Main), yuv420p, 720x480 [PAR 10:11 DAR 15:11], 29.97 fps, 29.97 tbr, 90k tbn, 59.94 tbc
Output #0, matroska, to 'RTN_1a.mkv':

How do I find the right dish size (Galaxy 19 from bay area)?

Long overdue Tuneup and one mystery solved...
