If I want to "move" in order to get programming that I can't get now, what do I need to do. Can I get this done just by changing my billing address?

Essentially, yes. You need an address that isn't being used for a Directv account. It can be a real address or a fictitious one.

service address, which you have to call for. your billing address will not do anything to change your service.

Just to be sure you are aware, your locals and certain rsns are all that change by way of "moving". Just wasn't sure you realized as you said programming, not locals.

also the address has to be semi-legit and not have an active D* account there right now

...and you need to move with-in neighboring spotbeams or to NYC or LA which will only give you the "big3" +1 for locals...not PBS, CW, etc.

I think you mean Big 4
Its usually Big 4 + PBS
