Moving Receiver

When I first had DN installed, I had the 625 receiver/dvr put into my bedroom where I do most of my tv watching. However recently I decided to move the tv from the bedroom to the living room. Since the receiver was installed in the bedroom, can I hook it up to the coaxial line running in from the living room? The reason I need to do this is because the tv I am putting in the living room does not have a coaxial input or tv tuner card. If I cannot move the receiver is there a modulator that will convert a coaxial signal to component? I know there are devices that do this in reverse. And if so, is there a loss of signal/quality? I am asking because I do not want to call DN right now and have them come out and take care of it. The last time they were here, they were sloppy and left a huge mess behind and didnt even give me any information on how the system worked. Thanks in advance.

Is the cable going to the living room connected to the dish? If so, then yes go ahead and move it there and run check switch. Menu, 6, 1, 1, Check switch.

One more thing, is the cable going to the bedroom connected to a DP Separator? (Looks like a splitter but it's not).

By the way Welcome to Satelliteguys!

Yes the cable in the living room is connected to the dish. As for the cable in the bedroom, I do not know if it is connected to a DP seperator or not. How would I find out? Is it on the outside of the house near the dish? And thanks for the welcome.

It should be in the back of the receiver. The 625 is a dual tuner so it needs two satellite feeds but with a DP separator (looks like a splitter) you can have a single cable run to the dual tuner receiver.

Just check in the back of the receiver and remember to bring it with you to the living room. Run check switch and you should be good to go.

Thanks. I have the DP seperator on the back of the receiver. I did as you said and ran a check switch. Am I suppose to put in my zip code because that section was just all zeros. I put it in anyway and ran a check switch. It did 38 out of 38 tests and finally said one of the inputs was not connected properly and now I cannot acquire a satellite signal. Im not sure what else to do unless I misunderstood the directions.

You probably have a diplexer installed before the DP seperator all behind the reciever. A diplexer looks just like a 2 way splitter as well.

If that is the case what you need to do is find the other diplexer in the system... depending on the tech, it could be at the dish or near the ground block.

When you find the other one, just tahe the VHF/UHF and the IN/OUT and switch those two lines around.

Totally clueless - help!

Anyone else's 211 acting funny?
