Just bought a new laptop running W7 and I want to transfer the iPhone to this PC. Tried moving the apps/music/movies from my XP computer and I'm not having any luck. Can't see any option in iTunes to move to another PC... Anyone accomplished this?

There is no option in iTunes to accomplish this. The way I have done this in the past is to install iTunes and then copy your old iTunes installation over top of the new one.

Directory structure is different in W7 and XP... I guess I'll keep trying...

iTunes should still have the same structure. The only difference may be were the media is stored but that is no big deal. The part you need is the registration of the iPhone.

What computer the iPhone is registered with doesn't really matter. What matters is that you copy over all the music, apps, etc. so that the library looks the same.

Then, when you connect the iPhone to it and it warns that it will "erase everything on the phone and sync it with this library" you don't care because they are the same.

This was my experience gained from when iTunes decided to "forget" everything it knew about my library, so I had to set it all up again.

Got everything copied. Problem was the directory structure on XP and W7 are different. To figure out where everything went I downloaded a free app and some music. Noted where they were loaded on the W7 side and manually copied each directory.

After copying everything over I downloaded the app in iTunes again. Hooked up the phone and did a sync. Phone was backed up on the W7 side and the new app appeared on the phone.

I have my iPhone sync with two computers. Within iTunes you can network all content through Home sharing. Through Homesharing I transfered all of my music and apps to my laptop. I use Homesharing to keep both of my computers up to date with all of my latest updates. At times I sync my phone with my laptop and sometimes with my desktop and there are not conflicts or issues at all.

Looks like I get to do it the other direction.... PC died today. When new one gets here next week it goes form Laptop to PC
