motorized question

How does a FTA receiver move a dish? I'm assuming that an interface is required to supply power to an existing motorized dish but I can't seem to find info on how the receiver sends the signals to move/stop a dish. I'm currently using my 4DTV receiver to move the dish but would like to remove the 4DTV from service and have the MPEG receiver move the dish instead. I'm not using the 4DTV for receiving VC or DC programming anymore.

You'd need to tell us a little more. Are you talking the BUD dish, or a KU dish?

Which FTA receiver? Does it have motor control in the set up?

If you are talking an FTA receiver to move a C Band dish, aint gonna happen with out the 4DTV or some other older technology, or getting a G or V box. Other's can explain that one for you better than I. If you are talking about a KU band dish, there "should be" a control in the menu someplace for setting up your motor.

Start by telling what receiver and dish you are using.

Right now I have a Pansat 300A but I'm planning on upgrading to a newer receiver with HD capability (not to mention blind-scan and all the other conveniences). I want to move a 12' dish. It's rather cumbersum for my wife to operate all these electronic devices especially since she's not as technically inclined as I am. Being able to change az/pol with the MPEG receiver when she selects a transponder would make things less complicated for her. I guess I could spend money and get her a 4DTV subscription (even though I don't like paying for programming with all the advertisements, logos, crawlers, etc).

To move a BUD (Big Useful Dish) with a FTA receiver, you'll need a device like the G-BOX 3000, sold by Sadoun.
