motor recommendation

I'm about to pull the trigger at Sadoun's for a motorized system and I need some ideas on which motor to buy. I notice he doesn't sell Moutek's (sic) anymore.
I'll be using a 90cm dish with an Invacom lnb. I'm in the northeast and was concerned with weather.

I use an SG2100 in Michigan and get lots of lake effect snow and some decent winds with a 90cm dish and have had no problems.

I use a SG2100 for 4 winters (this winter will be 5) here in Minnesota and other than a couple bolts showing rust, she still runs like a champ even in the coldest weather

All right guys, my dish and motor came today and I'm raring to go!
I'll be trying for my true south sat tomorrow.
My latitude is 42.3 and my longitude is 71.04. I'm in Boston, ma.
Am I correct that my true south sat is AMC 6?
I'm using a Skywalker-1 and DVBDream, do these both support usal?
Or am I better off with disecq?

DVBdream: Motors? Yes.

You need to store positions one by one and assign them to satellites manually (for each sat), then it will auto-drive the motor on channel change when needed.

- Open the Positioner Dialog, Activate it in options.
- Give a number to each sat you will use on the paper (from 1 to 63, 0 is the reference pos, max number might vary depending on the motor type specified)
- Find the satellite by using east/west movement buttons (you might need to tune to TP from that satellite , use Manual Scan dialog, you will see a small button there below the satellite selection box)
- Save the motor position with that number (Store)
- Click on Goto (this might not be necessarry)
- Select the satellite from the list
- Click on Modify
- You must see the "motor memory number" next to the satellite selection box
- Repeat these for each sat you will watch.

there is no complete USALS support yet

Is this your first FTA system?
I would seriously suggest you start out with no motor.
Get to know your software and hardware for a few weeks or months.
Then add in the motor.
And mount it low where you can easily get to the dish to align it.

I remember using USALS in DVBDream before. Worked kinda quirky though. But I also didn't take the few minutes to figure it out.

I would also recommend a standard FTA receiver for ease of use. A motorized system is very hard to setup without one.

I use a Coolsat 5000 right now.
The only option I have is a 30' rooftop. I have a non-penetrating roof mount.
I'll probably use the Coolsat to line stuff up.
