I just got my true fta system. It is a.....
Omegasat DSB5700
powermax motor HH GS9120
10750mhz Lin lmb
90c dish I think its 36 x39

Antenna settings are....
lmb power on
long set to 84.4 mich 49201
lmb type standard 2- 10750
diseq.....
tone...auto
motor volt 0
motor?
diseq?
I bird doged in sat91 west. This is zero on motor.
My question is motor settings...
Do I use USALS or diseq 1.2
And how do I do the set up from here?
please be detailed in your answer as I'm new to this.
Thanks

USALS is easiest
Once you have aligned to your True South Sat (Sat cloest to your Longitude)
In the receiver's setup menu, select USALS for Motor, that should bring up a menu for you to enter your Lat and Long (North and West)
For east Sat in the receiver's, you must enter the correct LNB Settings and select USALS, you should only need to enter your Lat and Long once.

help with setup

Retard here.
Omegasat dsb5700
motor powermax hh gs9120
10750 l lnb
90cm dish from ws int

Have the dish on sat 91.0 set to true south with a bird dog sat finder. This is set at 0 on my motor indicator.

Go to antenna settings

lnb on
lat set to 42.3
lnb type standard
freq 10750
diseq off
tone auto
switch 12volt
motor to usals

when we go to motor settings things get a bit confusing...

select usals
then we selecct the sats we want, most 10750 sats.
press o.k.
do I change anything on the nav screen? do I move west, then east, north then south.. it says in the book..motor can be restricted to the software limits using the red and blue buttons, do I want to set these limits? When I tried this it did not go back to 0...should it. Where should it go?
then the book says to enter the lat of 0.00 and long of 0.00, then go to X menu, but nothing happens
says I should get an X menu, I don't.
next it says to enable limits/disable limits and hit ok
What am I missing?
It's a nice day here and very frustrating to get this far..

What am I missing?
It's a lot to learn for something that seems so easy.
It's not Plug N Play either. You need to enter all the correct settings into the receiver.
When setting up, you should not "drive" the Dish until you lock your True South Sat, to me at least. Look for a "Go to 0"(Got to Zero) in the receiver's Motor setup menu.
It's all about the details...
It would help if you listed your location, Long and Lat.
Your exact LNB model
Pics of you setup, showing in detail what the Motor Lat and Dish Elevation settings are.

motor settings

Thanks LAK7
the lnb is a model DMx522u
lo 19750 mhz
input 7-12.2
from ws digital
our location is michigan 49201
lat 42.3494
long 84.4753
I used a birddog sat finder to paint 91.0 I believe it points to that bird whe we check signal it's 80 %. when motor is on zero.
I'll take pic's on monday wife has camera out of town rite now

Is the "u" a typo?
If so, the DMX522 is a Standard LNB, the little "orange" guy, I have one too :)
With your Long of 84.47, you will first want to first lock 85west or 83 west
Any reason you are trying for 91 first?
Which Transponder in the Bird Dog shows the 80%? Is that Quality or Signal Strength

The other details......
Receiver Make / Model
Dish Make / Model
Motor Make / Model

answers

yes it's a U on the end.
box is an Omegasat DSB5700
dish is a ws digital 90c dish, I think it is about 36" wide by 39" tall
motor is a powermax model HH GS9120
Should I be pointing at an 83 or 84 sat? I don't know, Should I try to hit that bird? And use it as my starting point?
can anyone walk me through the motor settings page with the navagator buttons? ANd THE ENABLE LIMITS AND DISABLE LIMITS.....This may be where I screwed up.
On my first sat,Do I set the lat and long to 0.00 or my location?
42.3 an 84.4 Jackson Mi 49201

yes it's a U on the end.
"U" usually indicates "Universal" which would have different L.O. settings.

Should I be pointing at an 83 or 84 sat?
When setting up a Dish w/ Motor, you should start with the Sat closest to your Longitude, so 85 or 83. Not much on 85, so AMC9 at 83 west may be a better choice.

On my first sat,Do I set the lat and long to 0.00 or my location?
Look for AMC9 in the Sat List, or a Sat at 83 west. Sat names change, so your list may not be up to date - no biggie.
Once in the Sat's Setup menu...
Enter the correct LNB info
Select an Active Transponder for the Sat you are aiming for, not all TPs in a receiver's list are active. for AMC9 look for: 11735, 12140, or 12160
Set Motor option to USALS and enter your location, Lat(42.3 North) and Long (84.4 West)
If you see "Go to Zero" select it, that should drive the motor to it's Zero point.

Out at the Dish.....
Pole MUST be Plumb
Set the Motor "Latitude" scale to your Latitude, if only "Elevation" scale, then 90 minus 42.3 = 47.7 (48) Elevation
Set Dish Elevation to 33.5

Aiming a Dish is easier if you drage a small TV and the receiver to the Dish......
Loosen Motor Mount bolts just enough to be able to twist on the pole, and slooooowly twist the Dish from East to West watching for the receivers Quality Meter to light up.

Make sense?

The "U" stands for Universal, his isn't a standard
I didn't see a DMX522U on their web site

Grumpygreg, please look at the LNB for the Proper L.O. settings
A "Universal" LNB should have 2 L.O.s listed, usually 9750 / 10600
In the Receivers Sat Setup menu, you would select....
LNB Type: Universal
Low L.O. = 9750
Hi L.O. = 10600

the lo is the only thing listed, word for word of the label. It may be put there by ws international sales.
can I set the elev with a inclinometer?*****
I do see go to zero on menu
should my motor be set to zero when I start ?****
pole is plumb
t.v. will be out there monday w/ me.
The lnb settings make more sence now.... 9750/10750
What should be done with enable and disable limits?*****
not sure how to get to and active transponder on my stb***do I go to manual scan?***
both you guys are a great help, thank you.

What should be done with enable and disable limits?*****
You do not need to set the Limits if there is no Physical Obstruction to prevent the Dish from traveling ful East ans West.

I do see go to zero on menu....should my motor be set to zero when I start ?
Yes

can I set the elev with a inclinometer?
I'd use the Dish's scale to start.

not sure how to get to and active transponder on my stb
In the Receiver's Sat Setup Menu, select the needed Sat. Now look at the options, you should see one that has TP Trans, Transponder, and have a 5 digit number next to it. (5 digit = Ku, 4 digit = C Band)
If you do not see one of the TPs I listed, you will need to enter it manually, cross that bridge when you get to it.

will set and look

Theres nothing to stop the dish east and west. limits question answered.

I will set my lnb on universal
and set motor on zero.

***The motor has a lattatude scale on it and the dish has a scale which is in single digits****
that's why I used an inclinometor.
.------- is there a formula to calculate 33.5 ?--------

I was able to blind scan a bird but can't gaurantee its want I think.
Weds is looking like good weather to be outside.
I will use a birddog do 83
I let you guys know how it works out
Thanks again, thanks for being there for all of us.

The motor has a lattatude scale on it and the dish has a scale which is in single digits
Motor Lat scale is set to "your" Lat
Dish Elevation scale 1 = 10, 2 = 20, 3 = 30, and so on
.------- is there a formula to calculate 33.5 ?--------
Dish Elevation is Motor Tube bend minus Declination
40 - 6.5 = 33.5

If you did a Blind Scan and got channels, please list.

Gentlemen,

Sorry about the confusion. The "U" is a typo. There is only 1 WS International dual LNBF offered, and it's a standard model. Use the LO frequency 10750MHz for all the DMX522/DMX522U model. At this time, we do not have a dual universal model available.

Again, sorry for the confusion.
