Question:
What is the difference Between the Dish 500 and Dish 1000
The Dish 1000 allows you to get 129 ( 3 orbital slots)
Dish 500+ gets you 110, 118.7, 119
Dish 1000+ gets you 110, 118.7, 119 and 129 slots

Question : Francis Zimmerman
When pausing a program with 622 how do I disable the bluebar / pause bar at the bottom of the screen.
A: Right now there is no way to do this.

Question : Travis
Is there any advantage of getting Wildblue with dish? ie a Bundle option?
A: It's a couple of months away, we are working on this.

E-Mail Nancy
How can I archive from my 622 to Dvd recorder?
A: Use the Rca jacks to archive. We are working on the external HDD, will be out this fall, we uncovered a bug in the OS that set us back.
(Authors note; they did not mention it but it is better to archive from the S-Video jack, for better PQ)

Question: Jason
On the 622 the OTA guide does not give subchannel info is there any plan to add those and how about RSN's on Dish...
A: we will give some guide info on subchannels, unknown time frame. Yes we are working on RSN's 10? channels in HD very soon.

E-Mail from Donna:
If I record on TV 1 on my 622 can I watch on TV2?
A: Yes
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ITV Update with Scott Higgins

---------------------------------------------------------
Winner of Wildblue contest is Lee from Alabama...

Question from Mr. Alvarado:
Has a 622, I can not add my local analogs like I could with my 942.
A: Not possible with the 622 as no analog tuner.

Question from David:
When will I be able to access the 625 thru the USB port to save content?
A: Use pocket dish or a slingbox (content protection)

Questions on 129 dropouts and pixalation:
A: 129 in the N.W. is not as strong, we are working on a special dish solution using a 24" dish, contact your local retailer if you are having problems. We are going to try to boost the power Wed to help on the 129 NW transponders.

Question:
From Mike (Satelliteguy):
are we going to get FoodHD and INHD soon?
A: No signed contracts yet, so we cannot talk about that...

HDMI from 622
2 problems from the 622 we have identified, we are working with hardware and software issues with the TV manufacturers. Also the HDMI connectors available are not heavy duty enough. On Software side we are having problems with Vizio

Javier Question:
When will Wildblue be available?
A: From Wild blue.com or wait a month or so for E* to provide

Robert Question:
Recording on 622, does Mpeg 2 OTA and Mpeg 4 use the same amount of disk space?
A: depends on the source, Mpeg 4 gives a 25-30% saving on disk space.

I killed it trying to get too fancy... I put the Imageshack stuff on the second post and was going to add attachments to the first... doh:rolleyes:

No worries.

BTW, you got my name wrong about the Food HD question (Mike, not Joe) :p

Is it just me, or did they cringe both times they heard Satelliteguys mentioned?

I still remember on a Charlie Chat when someone mentioned Satelliteguys, and Charlie looked like he was about to squeal. :D

I do think they shrugged off the InHD and FoodHD question. Good job asking it!! I know that has been on a lot of our minds.

Yeah, but they said it was an issue with the standard-wide connector, not with the 622 specifically.

What they need to do to fix the HDMI connector is either put in 2 snap in connectors, one on each side, or use the screw method like with a DB15 connector.

Well I'm sure the uplink guys are gonna get yelled at for uplinking a channel and putting it's name with it.

the next time a channel is uplinked it will probably be TST56 or something ;)

They are trying to save face.

Many other manufacturers are having great success with the standard connectors ... they put them in correctly.

Wow!

E* admits a hardware problem with the 622 HDMI connector!
If they didn't do it then I was. I knew about this for awhile now but wanted them to set the record stright and they did just that, so for that I applaud them.

Tom Bombadil said:
However all in all, not a whole lot of new info or future plans for a tech chat.
Hey they did mention the new Plus Dish for the first time (something we have been talking about here for the past 4 months) :)

My Sony 30" widescreen has an HDMI port (which my 211 uses), and it has worked as engineered since I bought it 2 years ago.

I am sure we would read somewhere else that some "darkguy the hacker" figured out what was actually being uplinked.

Things are secrets too long in this industry.
